Hi, please, is this HSV-2 Ig G result a possible false positive?

Hi, more than one year ago, I did STD´s tests, after ending a relationship with a woman, with whom I had unprotected sex (last time in my life). After 3 weeks of the last sexual intercourse did the tests and I had a positive result for CHLAMYDIA Ig M and HERPES II Ig M. I don´t remember the result numbers. Now, after more than one year, without any medication and not having sex (not even oral sex or any kind of sexual interaction) since then, I had a negative result for CHLAMYDIA Ig G and Ig M; and for HSV II Ig G 1.30 and for HSV II Ig M 0.79. Is there a chance that this positive result for Ig G is false positive? and if that is the case, what can I do to obtain a reliable result? Thank you for your time and helpfull advice.

well I don't know if the WB for herpes is done in your country which is why you'd need to seek out someone locally to find out your testing options.

Thank you for everything, I read that the WesterBlot test is an option. I don´t have any problem with the money invested in that particular test, do you recommend it? That will be my last question. And thank you again for your great support.

God bless you and be with you.

the herpes igm test is a very flawed test. we don't recommend it's use for diagnosing herpes.

your hsv2 igg is a low positive and you'll need to confirm it with further testing to see if it's really a true positive or not. Even though I'm not sure what exact test brand you had done, all the herpes igg based tests seem to have the same issues so it's well worth follow up.I have no idea what your confirmatory testing options are in your country and recommend that you seek out a local herpes support group to see if someone there can guide you to further testing.

HERPES SIMPLE II IGM: 0.79

Thank you for your answer, the test has been done by Inppares, a laboratory specialized on STD in Peru. The results are as follows:

HERPES SIMPLE II IGG: 1.30

NEGATIVE                1.00          U.A.

HERPES SIMPLE II IGM: 0.79

NEGATIVE                1.00          U.A.

The first time, more than one year from now, the results were inverse, I had Negative for IGG and Positive for IGM. I never had any symptoms in my body and this was confirmed by the Doctor specialized in STD's.

Thank you again for your time and helpfull answers.

Wait for grace to take a look at this though I see you are from peru.  She may not be able to help you with your testing.

The IgM test is not type specific and does have a high false positive rate.  But wait for grace.
