Herpes? Still no answer..

Idk why but I have not received much attention or help with my question as most others have. I guess I'll repost and try again.

33 yr old male. Had a recent encounter with a girl who then told me she had HSV-1 (no answer to oral or genital). We had unprotected sex 3 times in 1 night and also exchanged oral. Beginning 2 weeks after, I started having these symptoms mostly in this order:

Extremely sensitive skin on back of thighs
Anal itching, no visible lesions
Pain in lower back, butt, then down right leg to heel
Similar pain down left leg
Lower abdominal pain (pubic region)
Frequent urination
Pins & needles all over body
Swollen lymph nodes in neck
Strep throat
Multiple canker sores in throat
Bad breath
Pain in arms w/pins & needles & occasional numbness in pinky/ring fingers
Itch that feels like bite in armpits but no visible problem
Headaches and stiff neck
Pain behind eyes
Minor aches in several teeth
Canker sores on and under tongue
Canker sores inside of both lips
Pain in penis, redness on one side inder foreskin
Itch inside urethra
Red painful itchy bump near top of butt crack, gone after 3 days.
Have not had any sores/lesions.

These symptoms have occured over the last 10 weeks (12 post encounter).
I'm still having pins & needles all over, slight pain in neck lymph nodes, canker sores, headaches, penis pain, back & leg pain (aches and shocks).

I have seen 2 PCPs who have done blood/urine tests (dont remember the type) which came back clear. CT scan showed nothing. Kidney ultrasound showed nothing. One prescribed Lamisil for continuous itch in boxer area (still doesn't help after 2 weeks). Another prescribed Gabepentin for neuropathy issue (helps a little, 100mg twice a day). I am scheduled to see a neurologist in 1 month (soonest available). And both PCPs basically have no clue what to do and keep referring me back to the other. Basically they've told me "Good Luck, we don't know." I mentioned to both of them at first visit about the sexual encounter and possibility of HSV infection and neither did anything about it. Very upsetting!!

I have taken 2 STD panel tests Labcorp & Quest:
One 17 days post-encounter for everything - all negative (i now know it was too soon)
Another one 10 weeks post-encounter for HSV-1 and HIV - both negative

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi also. Being positive for hsv1 after symptoms is not a result of the symptoms but the result of having hsv1 from childhood. They had symptoms and then tested but the symptoms were not in line with herpes. Its similar to your post stating you have bad breath and pain behind your eyes. These are not herpes symptoms but symptoms of extreme anxiety from the affair and its causing you to notice your body in general and every irregularity. Would you rather we say yes you just contracted herpes from these symptoms? Only testing would confirm this so test at 3 months post exposure and get back to us with the results.

I understand what you are saying and I reread this thread and the other. The disconnect was with the canker type sores. I missed that they were down the throat area. If you get another cold sore then have it swabbed.
I stand by the rest of what I said.

But I WAS having multiple lesions in the mouth and throat and yes, it was all nasty. And what do you mean by the context of what I'm reading. The site said that it is a symptom of a primary infection...?

I'm still confused as to how you all are still writing this off as something else.
Herpes is known to cause all of my symptoms. The only difference is that I haven't had any open sores on my genitals or outside of lips.

Herpes is known to cause:
Balanitis
Thrush
Strep
Swollen lymph nodes
Frequent urination
Neuropathy
Testicular pain
Back and leg pain.
Etc.

I just don't understand how with so many people on these forums stating the same problems soon after a sexual encounter and later becoming positive with HSV-1, you still turn people away from it.

I agree with your assessment on doctors and prescriptions. The problem with your reading about hsv being in and around the mouth is the context of what your reading. We all know this to be true. However, what your missing is these primary outbreaks are severe and can not be mistaken. You will have lesions in and around the mouth and it is usually nasty. Not just a single canker type sores inside the cheek.
That's why none of what you describe sounds like hsv at all

Thank you for your answer. I don't remember getting an answer before from either of you, but thanks.
In regards to the canker sores in the mouth, I see that many doctors who claim to be herpes experts are denying that they are related to herpes. I searched John's Hopkins and found this:

"In the initial infection, sores can occur on and around the lips and throughout the mouth."

The "throughout the mouth" is what has me confused. And why does John's Hopkins research disagree with many on the matter?

Also, if this is not HSV, then what? It's awful and and no one seems to be able to help. And it seems that when doctors can't immediatelt pinpoint it or resolve it with simple prescription drugs, they pass me along to someone else just to get rid of me.  This is extremely frustrating, not to mention expensive!

Thanks

You were told by both grace and myself that 5his does not sound like hsv. I don't know what you want us to say honestly. The odds of contracting hsv if she had no cold sores or sores on her vagina are close to zero. Hsv1 on the genitals does not she'd very often and usually is not very potent when it does. Very unlikely you have hsv from this. Hsv1 will almost always have a nasty primary outbreak when the person who contracted it had no prior hsv.
