How herpes is spread !!

I have heard that herpes virus can spread from skin to skin contact in recent interviews on TV.
What exactly do they mean by skin to skin contact? They even say it can spread to others parts of the body for example if you touch a Herpes sore with your hands it may infect your fingers, eyes etc !!

Does asymptomatic shedding of Herpes Virus has got anything to do with this ?

I don't if I will get a reply, but i'll give it a shot. You say oral, well on Feb14 my wife and I had a mommy and daddy over night and a hotel. Well 2 weeks later I had a lot of sores on my anus hmmm. But she has never showed any signs of HSV nor have I. I have had only two sex partners my wife of almost 7 years and my ex-wife. Now I know she was very open to sex before and yes from research online she could carry it and give it to me via viral shedding. But my big question is my only my anus we had full oral sex? Im so confused and lost! Part me is wanting to scream at her and the real side of me who is understanding and caring is just saying we can deal with this.  Please if you have any info why its on one part of the body and not others please send it my way.

On yourself, it's not likely to spread to other body parts. If you've touched an obvious lesion either orally or genitally, wash your hands with soap and water to kill the virus.

genital herpes is transmitted thru direct skin on skin contact with the genital area of someone infected with it. You can also contract genital herpes thru receiving oral sex from someone who has oral herpes.  Pretty much it's naked contact with folks in an intimate manner.

Asymptomatic shedding means that the virus is active on the skin's surface but it isn't causing obvious lesions.
