Possible herpes infection

I had protected sex with a woman three weeks ago.  I noticed a small paper cut like lesion on my testicle.  I had no other symptoms..ie flu, muscle aches, lymph swelling, itching or tingling.  The paper cut was relatively painless but it grew into a sore.  Within one day of noticing it...I went to the doctor who cultured it.  He said it was a good time to culture because it was very wet and active.  He also took blood work.  All my tests came back negative...culture test, IGm and Igg for HSV1 and HSV2,  I got my partner tested and she came back negative for HSV2 on the Igg test.  The doctor thought that clinically it was a herpetic sore....I have never had anything like this before,  I did do some shaving in the genital area....but am certain that I did not cut myself.  I think this has to be herpes despite the tests....does anyone thing differently?  If so...what could it be?

many things cause tears in the skin - even "good" sex will do it. our genital skin is very sensitive compared to other body parts and tears easily.

She did not have oral sex with me...tested postive for HSV 1...what else could this be?  I can't seem to find anything that would be close...most sites say if you have a sore in the genital area its herpes!  Is there any other condition in your experieince that could cause a sore like that?  thanks so much for your help!

A visual diagnosis of herpes is wrong 1/3 of the time which is why we always recommend appropriate follow up testing.

odds are this wasn't herpes based on your testing and this partners testing but err on the side of caution and follow up with a repeat type specific herpes igg blood test in a few months just to cover your bases.   did your partner also test negative for hsv1? had you had oral sex with her?
