I am very concerned and afraid about hsv-1

I am 23 years old and I just found out that I have HSV-1 . I only get cold sores on my nose but my question is it possible for me to transmit this to my partner and if so when is it most likely? Can he get it from me kissing him?How do I prevent him from getting it? This issue is very hard for me and I am very stressed and depressed about it. I need to know enough information before I can tell him.

http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading. your cold sores being on your nose isn't any different from someone who gets them on their lips.

your partner will also need to be tested to know his status too.
