How do I prevent autoinoculation from herpes

I for sure have cold sores but is it possible to give myself genital herpes ? I'm always scared to use the restroom because I have to wipe myself and I don't want to give myself genital herpes also, can I give it to myself if I don't have a sore present? I don't remember touching my lips anymore since I've had the breakout (I sort of made a conscious effort not to) but I briefly scratch areas around my face like my nose or my eyebrows if they itch and I don't always end up washing my hands after, if that is the case, if I end up touching my clothes afterwards like my underwear or my shirt or something and put them on can I transmit the virus to other parts of my body?

Double post. You won't spread it to your genitals.
