IGM text postive.

Dear experts:

I went for HSV-1 and HSV2 test after 12 weeks from a ******** of sexworker and condom sex.

both are negative. However, my doctoer told me the IGM (some something like that) shows that I had HSV infections before he did say it can be Hsv-1 or HSV2......it freasks me out....

what does it mean?>...please help me....

The igm doesn't show that you had infections before. It's probably best if you call and ask them to read you your test results again and write them down to post here. All I need to see if hsv1 igg 4. 2 and hsv2 igg 2. 9 or whatever they are. Any igm test results can be totally disregarded since it's a bad herpes test and shouldn't have been drawn in the first place.

I just got back from my doctor so sorry for my bad typing..I don't remember if its IGM or IGG but it does say that "can's distinguish between HSV1 or 2" My question is how relaible is that test and wht means..

I asked doctor she said its nothing to worry but u did have HSV infections before.....

my biggest worry is that so I had herpes doens';t matter if its type 1 or 2......it gona change a lot in my life...i am about to get married soon....

It sounds like you didn't have a type specific herpes igg blood test done so it's a waste of time. You'll need to have your doctor make arrangements to have a type specific blood test done that does differentiate between hsv1 and hsv2.

Your intended also should get tested too.

they are all bad and can't be cured right?

Herpes isn't bad - it's an incredibly common infection that very few of us get thru life without having at least hsv1, if not hsv2 or both.

Knowing which type you have is important. If you and your partner both have hsv1 it's not such an issue. If one of you has hsv2 though and you plan on having a family someday, it is important to know that.

No, genital herpes is an issue when you are giving birth to a baby so knowing your status prior to your partner trying to become pregnant and their status when they are pregnant is important.

Really, herpes isn't near the big deal that you seem to be making it out to be.

I have a question:
my test result says:
HSV-1 negative
HSV-2 negative
IGM postive.(non type spefic)

Is this means the above Hsv-1,or 2 negatives are IGG test? I don't remember seening IGG but if its not IGG what are they?

this is a test after 3 mount+ , isn't IGG should be postive by now....so the IGM may be a false postive?

totally disregard your igm result and don't give another moments thought to it.

negative igg's for hsv1 and hsv2 3 months post encounter mean that you most likely are completely hsv negative.

this is what my doctoer says:

"You don' t have herpes now both type, but U had herpes before......maybe long time ago..you might seen lesions in the future so come see me when u got them...."

after reading, this doesn't make any sense to me.....

so the HSV-1 or 2 test(IGG) is Sometimes negative?

I am going to talk to my doctor again today.
I had no sex at all for 14 weeks already, if my negatives HSV test were in fact IGG, I guess I should request a retest for IGM.

I don't think you are listening. You should never, ever, EVER get the herpes igm test done. Don't waste your time with it and don't call your doctor and request that you get it done.

Either you are misunderstanding your doctor or your doctor is getting it wrong. If you are negative for hsv1 and hsv2 via the igg blood test then you don't have either hsv1 or hsv2.  There is no reason for further testing. You don't have herpes.

i just got back.....turns out my test was an Igg test...a non type speific igg test....

I took a type speific igg test today...

i am even more confused now.....

I have postive Igg non type speific test, but it says "non reative" for HSV-1 and HSV2, is this just mean that i am not going to pass it to my girl at this point because i dont  have active leasions...but in the future i will have leasions and at that time its danger for her....

Btw, Grace, IGM test no longer offerd in canadian bio labs.

I was tested positive for HSV 1 and 2. The tests were Glycoprotein G AB, Igg 5.60 IV which is positive antibody to HSV type 1 and HSV2 Glycoprotein G AB, Igg 2.13 IV
Is this test accurate and how can I find out when I caught it present or past infection.
My husband of 17 yrs broke out on his penis in Sept 2008 and I had a vaginal discharge 14 days later I was tested neg- for other STDs but I had flu like symptoms along with a back ache in November 6, 2008 and that is when I decided to go back to my Dr. and request the HSV test. My husband still refuses to get checked for HSV 1 and 2. He swears he had been faithful.  We are in the process of getting seperated because he states he is not happy in this marriage ( how ironic) Well if that is even true then maybe my ex husband gave them to me since I know he cheated on me or could it be when I had unprotected sex after my first divorce from my ex. I have not had any kind of break out in my vaginal area but I do remember getting a cold soar on my upper lip in 2000 which was 8 yrs ago. So either my current husband cheated on me or he caught it from one of his ex grl frnds. Please Help me. Iam so devastated not knowing when I caught them.

I know this sounds rude but really dear - you are making my head spin around in circles!!!!  At this point you have me so confused about what testing you had done or didn't have done that I think it's best if we just wait until you get your latest test results back.  When you get them back, write them down as they read them to you over the phone and then post them here. all I need to see is - hsv1 igg 4. 7 and hsv2 igg 2. 3 or whatever they are. They might also just report back with a + or a - .  I think at this point that's our best course of action so that we are both less confused!
