Indeterminate HSV 2 Western Blot result

Does anyone have any experience with these?  Has anyone gotten an indeterminate and later tested a definitive positive or negative?

you are being followed by Westover which is one of the best places you could be seen for this :)

do we get people who on repeat testing are found to be positive? yes we do but probably more often they end up negative.

if you had a low positive on a non-wb herpes blood test, probably best in the future to just always go for the WB so you aren't going thru this over and over.  Making sure partners get tested for herpes prior to engaging in sexual contact will help  lessen how often you have to get tested so you aren't spending this much money every time too.

best of luck!!  I know it's hard to wait in limbo like this for the repeat testing.

Also, if you're worried, call Westover and they can check with the U Washington lab for you.

Tiger, I am still waiting for my WB result and I know u also went to Terri's clinic to order it.  Did u get ur blood drawn at quest? Did u have to pay ... Quest didn't tell me to pay nor did I read to give a check to anyone?  I am just wondering if I did this right?  Any help... Really would be appreciated!

Since  antibody testing is upward of 90% accurate the odds are quite low that a true positive would come back positive with an indeterminate value. This would most often take place if the person tested under 8 weeks post exposure. If you tested low positive and took the test at 3 months post exposure you can certainly rest in the fact that your indeed negative.

Thanks for the answers guys.  I'm being treated by a clinician at Westover Heights (who has been awesome so far, by the way).  The plan now is to retest in December.  I was just wondering if anyone on here had gotten an indeterminate and then subsequently tested a confirmed positive or negative.

U also can read thru Terri's posts about this.... Some posters has called UW to get their take on the result but often time they may suggest to retake the test.  If still indeterminate after certain amount of time, it would be consider ed neg ( obviously with no outbreak) .   I encourage u to read Terri's old posts on this.  God bless, S

Hi,  these are numbers that requires retesting. Either is a false positive or tested to early. When, for example, it reaches over 3 /12 it would be considered confirmed positive.
