There is no way you can rationally "think [you] have been infected" with HHV8. You don't have HIV, so you can't have Kaposi sarcoma; and even if you could, that's a complication many years after acquiring the virus.  The large majority of HHV8 infections are asymptomatic and remain that way.

Got to see my HCV1&2 results. They show <.91 for 1&2 ans <.91 for HSV,IGM I/II

There is a column that says Flag with just straight line in them. Someone circled them have no idea what they are. It does say index <.91 is Negative so I guess I am Neg.

On my HHV8 test it says <1:20 is no antibody detected and my result is <1:20 so again Neg. I still have tender lymph node behind my ear on the left side I need to get to a Dr. But with a Neg HIV test maybe I picked up an other virus who knows, I hope not.
Thanks

Thanks

I am still waiting for the results. Should have simply excepted the DR saying they were not KS and moved on. I am the one that asked for the hhv 1&2 plus the hhv8. Even if somehow I contracted the virus it seems it is not to harmful until as you say, my immune system fails.

Any more word an in site would be appreciated.

You need to calm down here.

Unless you had contact with someone in Africa, the chances of the person having HHV8 are extremely low.

Even then it is not known if oral sex is a transmission method at all. If it is, transmission rates must be less than 1 in 1,000

Further if you have it, that is no diagnosis of your condition as you most likely would not experience any issues. You must be immunosuppressed, not just an advanced age for example, you must have something such as cancer or HIV as well.

Still no test results. DR informed me the Lab only test HHV8 on Thur. So tomorrow someone in the Lab will know but not me. I chose a DR that closes 1/2 day Thur and closed FRI,SAT,SUN so I have to suffer til then. I am sure I have it. Something had to cause those legions on my leg. I also have sharp shooting pains at time all over my body.

the Dr. said it will most likely come back NEG like my Hhv 1 and 2 did but I am not sure. Ghezz I wish some of you folks had some experience with his Virus I wish I never heard of it.

Thanks for letting me vent

Tomorrow morning I get the results of my HHV8 test. I am not optimistic. Those legions on my leg came from something. Dr says it will be NEG I hope he is right. This will be a long night.

The agony will never end!! As my last post said the test was delayed. Now they won't get it back til Mon.

Howard, thanks for your answer but I should point out I am older therefore I am fearful that my immune system is a bit weaker and KS could present after initial infection. I am very healthy and never get sick however so I am hoping my fears are simply in my head.

I know you folks mainly deal with 1&2 but need some insight into this HHV8. Reading the web is awful I can manufacture all kinds of scenarios.

Got a call back from the DR. My H1&2 came back NEG!! He also ordered a HHV8 but he said the lab wanted to do a PCR which would be $400.00   He told them no just do the regular test. He will have the results today. I don't think they [Lab] wanted to do a confirmatory test but I didn't ask the DR. He said he is sure the HHV8 test will be Neg as well when it comes back so if it was POZ he wouldn't have said that.

I guess this is good news but I can't find if they even have an antibody test for HHV8 I guess they do. I will ask him why they wanted to do the PCR

Thoughts??

I need some help. My post originally was about HHV8 but I am very worried about 1&2 ALSO. I had an oral experience in FEB. about 2 weeks later I had lymph gland on the left side of my neck feel tender. I don't know if they were or not I'm told only a DR can tell. The thing that is killing me is my wife came down with a sever lower back pain that turned into a flu like illness for a day, Diarrhea, nausea, and slight fever. We had no sexual relations during the time from my stupid oral experience simply causal contact.

My questions are how does Herpes usually present? would we get sores during initial infection? How could I have possibly passed it on the her?

I went today for blood test for H-1&2 and hhv8 It is 10 weeks since my potential exposure.

Please share your expertize with me . Thanks
