Is this Herpes

For about a year now I have had redness and irritation on the left side of my penis shaft. The skin looks thin and dry and flaky. The skin will crack with any amount of friction but will heal quickly, especially when using Neosporine. The redness, however, may pale, but never gos away. My doctor thinks it's herpes and I'm going to be tested. But it doesn't sound like herpes symptoms I have heard of. I have no blistering and the redness never gos away.

I would disagree that your symptoms sound like herpes, they don't to me.
have you tried treating the area with antifungal creams or oral medicines?  It is like a stripe on the penis shaft?
Herpes symptoms would normally come and go, not stay around for a year.
be certain that your doctor provides the correct type of testing.  You only want Igg antibody testing and be certain that it is type specific, that is, that the testing you have done separates type 1 from type 2 accurately.  If your doctor is using quest labs for the antibody test, the correct code is 6447.

does that help?

I've been diagnosedwith genital herpes for 5 months now and the symptoms are getting worse. I constantly itch burn around the outside of the vagina, white/ yellow fluid discharge, headaches and back pain. It hasn't gotten better and right now I don't have enough money for the acyclovir. The doctor gives me the medication once a month and I need it much more! Also I've got little tiny spots on my upper lip and one red small bump toward the coner of my lip. I also have white bumps around my tounge and in the far back. When I breath in, underneath my tounge hurts and my lower gums. I lifted up my upper lip and seen a line of red. I don't know what to do to make these symptoms go to sleep. Do you have any home remedies and what must I do to feel normal again?

i have  something very similar, red spot on tip of penis, no blisters, no pain, not ichy. been there for almost a year, been to doctor several times , got hydrocortisone and antifungla creams and antifungal tablet... doesnt completely fix it up. very frustrated, really want this gone. literary 10 months, red spot on glans of penis. doctor said to abstain from masturbation for 3 weeks to see what happens and get hsv1/2 test. almost clears up with hydrocortisone, but then i probally irritate it with masturbation. can you have a herpes sore that doesnt blister or get any worse or spread for 10 months? this cant be herpes can it?
