if the symptoms aren't getting better, return to be seen again or seek out a 2nd opinion from a different dermatologist.
I had an appointment with the doctor last Monday and I got a blood test for herpes. It was 25 days post encounter. I was negative for both and for all other STDs. However I know this was too early to be accurate. I talked to the doctor about my symptoms and he did not seem concerned but I am.
I was given Novasone cream because I had a lot of red dots appear on my left buttocks and down my left thigh which he thought was eczema. The cream has worked for my thigh. When I talked to him about the redness and itchiness on my scrotum, he thought it was the eczema and told me to put the cream on it. He didn't think either the redness on my scrotum or penis head were fungal or herpes related. He said that a fungal infection would be raised and have a distinct, white border which mine does not have. It's just a red rash that occasionally itches. He told me to put the Novasone cream on my scrotum as well and I have but the redness is still there. I have been putting lotion on the head of my penis but it has not been helping the redness.
Additionally, ten days ago my lips got really irritated and started burning all over. The doctor said he thought it was just chapped lips and told me to keep applying chapstick. Last weekend I developed a white circle on the edge of my right lower lip that does not seem to be getting better. A few days ago a red spot appeared on the edge of my right upper lip. Both occasionally burn a little but really not much irritation and I have not had any cold sores. It's mostly just causing me distress because every time I look in the mirror I see them. I am at a loss for what to do. The doctor looked at the spot on my lip and said it was anything to worry about. I'm not sure if there are swabs that a doctor or dermatologist can do without any lesions.
The redness in my genital area is not getting any better but no lesions are there. Can a swab or some test still be done now on the redness or do I have to wait and see if a lesion develops to see if it is herpes? I guess the same question for my lips. Can these spots on the edge of my lips be biopsied or swabbed prior to lesions developing?
It has been 33 days since my exposure and things do not seem to be getting any better.
If someone has had any of these symptoms, please help me.
odds are this is a fungal infection. be seen for a proper exam and diagnosis.
The color of the skin on the head of my penis is becoming very splotchy. There are darker spots developing there and my scrotum has been very itchy the past few days. Has anyone had any of these symptoms before? I am really freaking out and would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.
What do you think it is or what other ailments present these kind of symptoms? And what options do I have if I do not get a blood test? This is driving me crazy and I want to know if I have it or not.
shaving when you have something going on genitally is never a good idea. It just potentially makes worse what is going on and/or spreads it.
At this point you need to be seen to find out what is going on. you don't need a blood test for herpes, you'll need to wait 3 months post encounter for that and your symptoms are not presenting as classic herpes. if you did see your regular provider and they are stumped, consult someone else for a 2nd opinion. blood testing for herpes with active symptoms is never the best option for you.
