Had a one night stand w/ condom use two weeks ago. Two days later tingling on the testicles and small bump on tongue. Bump on tongue disappeared after a couple of daysTingling continued on the testicles and moved to thighs around testicles for several days. 7 days after one night stand tingling turned to slight burning; burning has continued for another 7 days; Skin on testicles and shaft is inflamed, but no pain on shaft or pain urinating.I keep expecting to see ulcers develop but none have so far. I have a doctors appointment scheduled but I couldn't get in to see someone for two more weeks. Do these symptoms sound like an atypical herpes oubreak?

If you are infected yes you can transmit it whether you've had signs of ob's or not. Your doctor is wrong with that info.
I think you need the peace of mind of testing but remember you need to wait and do it at the appropriate time - 4 months after the last time you had sex.

I went back to the GP doctor last week. Second visual inspection and nothing that suggested herpes. He told me that if there are no visible signs of Herpes that I wouldn't be able to transmit even if I did have it (symptoms anxiety related was his diagnosis), which he doesn't think I do. Is this true? He did say that my lips had some slight CHEILITIS, but was unrelated to any possible HSV infection. My doctor again urged against testing, because of the flaws in the test. I feel like I should get tested, because I don't want to risk infecting anyone. Should I get tested or assume that this in my head, and if I get tested how long do I need to wait after exposure (its been six wees since exposure and 5.5 weeks of symptoms) ?
I guess I need to apologize to everyone. I wasn't trying to wine and complain, I guess my tone was a little off. I was just trying to keep track of my symptoms and update anyone who's interested or going through the same symptoms. I do want to say thanks to everyone who replied. Especially grace; you've been a great help. I plan to keep updating with test results and medical visits as time goes on and I'll try my best to make sure it doesn't come across as whining. I am not freaking out anymore, even if I do have HSV I am ok with it, and just want to make sure that I can protect others from any potential exposure.
Oh and as far as white tongues go alot of people have some white on their tongues....Most of the time when we eat a majority gets rubbed away, its only when we start to focus on symptom lists that we take normal signs as abnormal. Also when stressed we might not be eating and that will let more white build up.....

OK a few of the people on here really need some tuff LOVE.......STOP being wusses!! Trust me I know what you're going through and yes the possability of having HSV is enough to shake you to the ground.....I have gone through just about 4 months of HELL waiting for the moment I could go get the western blot done. I went 11 weeks and said enough is enough I have to get back on with my life so I went to have the test done. PAID my 140.00 and waited another three weeks. During the last 4 months my doctors have done more visuals of my private parts than I care to count....All the time they have been telling me we don't see anything its all in your head, just relax....I said to them but I'm having symptoms.....They said acute anxiety can bring on symptoms,,,,,I said these are real symptoms....Back and forth we went until I had the western blot done....He called me yesterday and said guess what your results are negative and if you'd like you can still come in and we'll go over the results together.....

jlelandman27 no one is yelling at you,, everyone is just pointing out that you are doing everything in your power to make the time you have to wait until finding out your status as difficult as possible for yourself. Everyone here will answer questions and help you through this but when you jump around freaking out trying to prove other wrong it's counterproductive and we'll point it out...
I agree with Grace stay in touch with your doctors cross off every possability that it could be something else and that will help pass the time until you can go for your IGG test.....

If they didn't find anything in your urine test then it's not likely to be bacterial. There are many other viruses out there besides herpes that can cause pain with urination and discomfort and they just have to take their time to run their course.
Wait 4 months after the last time you had sex before all this and get a type specific herpes igg blood test then so you can finally put your fear that this is herpes to rest. Meanwhile if your symptoms continue, then continue follow up with your regular provider or an urologist for further evaluation.

I have the same exact symptoms as you do. I've had some serious itching and i guess some burning in the genital area. Its been 4 weeks yet the itching is still pretty persistent. I too have a very white tongue and I am freaking out that I have herpes. I have noticed some small real shiny bumps around my pubic region and a few spread out on the shaft but nothing that really looks like herpes. The best thing i can do right now is wait for 8 more weeks to get a blood test done, however i dont think i can manage this mental agony and stress any more. I too have a hard time believing its not herpes or something because its been going on for a while. Hopefully we can both get through through this clean.

Well 26 Sept went to STD clinic, Just shy of 4 weeks after exposure, and 3 weeks of symptoms. Dr. said skin in groin/genital areas looked normal and she could only make a herpes diagnosis if ulcers were present. Blood and urine samples were taken for HIV GON CLAM (no HSV test though) and everything came back negative. They even gave me a cycle of Zithromax in case of bacteria. 30 Sept. went to GP Dr. and was told that skin looked normal and that it was all in my head. He didn't want to give me a herpes test because he said it may have a false positive. I've tried to tell myself that these symptoms are all in my head but the itching and burning continues but not as intense. Some pain every now and then in abdomen. The only real visible symptom that I am having is white crusty lips and I noticed that my tongue is pretty white. I really don't know what to do as it is now going on 5 weeks of symptoms. I just have a hard time believing that this is still going on . I plan on seeking further medical advice and I think I'd feel better about all of this if I had some relief from the symptoms, but man this is a real **** fest.. any advice.

I don't think your symptoms are at all related to Herpes it seems to be something completely different,a urine infection seems most likely as that can produce some very uncomfortable lower abdominal discomfort,burning and "funky" smelling urine ( sorry but that part made me laugh lol ) ....... I'm sure an anti-biotic will clear this up .....

Yes, many people have minor symptoms, but to have all this tingling without an outbreak isn't suggesting herpes to me.

I had the exact same symptoms, except for the bump on the tongue. Two days after my possible exposure (right around labor day), I had tingling all over my genitals. Not really itching, and it didn't hurt. I have looked and looked and looked for sores, lesions, anything, haven't found anything. No pain urinating. The tingling slightly turned to burning in certain areas after a few days. The tingling stopped after about 6 or 7 days. I've seen three doctors over the past two weeks and they could not see anything visible. My scrotum was/is inflamed. I've posted on here and on the experts forum, and everyone continues to yell at me.
BUT, I just have a gut feeling here... Most people with herpes just have very mild symptoms right?
