Is this possibly herpes?

On May 19th, I went to an Asian massage parlor. After the massage, she gave me protected oral sex and then we ended up having protected vaginal sex. I came inside the condom. I showered right away

On 3rd June (15th day), I started to get a slight itch/burn in my inner right thigh/groin area, esp where the scrotum meets the thigh. The itch/burn was worse on 4th though bearable and then it went away but felt a burning sensation around my anus again bearable but worse when sitting down. The sensation of the anus stayed till June 5th and again on 7th , I had an itching/burning feeling around the same area as before (scrotum meets the thigh). By mid-morning, the itching/burning feeling subsided and the burning close to the anal opening/lining came on and went away. I went to the doc to get it checked and he said that he didn't see any blisters/cracks/sores in the "affected areas" and that it is probably jock itch. It also looks slightly whitish. He asked me to come back if there were any blisters/cracks/sores and also asked me to apply Lotrimin in the affected areas. I applied it at night and slept well. Today (20th day), after showering, I applied Lotrimin and it felt good, no itch, no nothing for the first 2-3 hours and now the "burn" on the right thigh area has come back.

I have noticed that the burning/discomfort sensation around my anus is more when I sit down. I can walk with relative ease (my mind tells me something is up) and don't feel the burn very much on either my anus/thigh

Questions:

1) What is the chance that this could be herpes?
2) What was my risk during the encounter?
3) What % of people get systemic symptoms such as Fever? Swollen lymph nodes? etc.
4) How tiny can these sores get???
5) What are your suggestions that I do?

Please advise

thanks

Without knowing what's going on, I can't recommend a specific treatment, sorry!

Terri,

I think the softer stools are probably due to my thyroid disorder ( i have hashimotos ) and so I sometimes i have constipation, other times i have softer stools.

what should I use to get rid of this burning? its quite irritating.

lamisil again? or the hydrocortizone cream?

Don't know what that's all about, but sometimes fungal infection can occur around the anus as well.  But fungal infections should not impact the quality of stools.

Terri,

Wanted to provide a quick update that all is well with the application of the fungal powder in the groin area. However, since late Sat, early Sunday, i have a burning sensation in the anal region and havent gone to the doc to get it evaluated. I must say that i have looser stool than normal and have been farting a lot (possible moisture). When I wake up, it doesnt feel that bad but as soon as finish my morning stool, i feel some soreness...

Any thoughts?

Terri, Thanks for your prompt answer :)

Within 2-3 days of applying lamisil again, i have been feeling great! Once this tube is done, I'll go to your advice to antifungal powder for the entire summer!

Thanks

I might feel a bit sore for a while, and it might look different than the surrounding skin for a bit.

Thanks for the response. I will do the same and let you know the progress.

Just out of curiosity and education, after healing of a herpes breakout, does the skin in and around that area feel sore? or different in texture?

Its possible your are sensitive to some lubricant or soap you are using.  I would suggest that you continue to use an antifungal power in the groin area for the summer.  On a daily basis, please.

Terri,

I must also mention that I masturbated the evening before this "new" itch started....I am unsure if it has anything to do with it but maybe it does

Terri,

Thanks for your response. I have not had an antibody test for HSV and I shall get it just so that I know.

So i used Lotrimin for a week, I started to get relief immediately within a day or so and it was good and i used it for a week but I couldnt shake it off. I switch to a "stronger" one Lamisil that the pharmacist told me and that gave me even better relief and only the 12th day or so, practically felt nothing. I continued it till the last dosage of the 14th day and then stopped. Today is the 17th day and this morning, I am feeling itching in the right side of groin again, so i put some talcum powder

1) Do you think the fungal infection is back? Or is this still herpes lingering on??? Or what is your best guess?
2) I will be going back to the doc to get it checked; but as far as treatment, what can I do?

If you are asking me what the chances are that this is herpes from the encounter that you describe, I would say it is low.  I wouldn't know if you might have herpes from some previous encounter, have you ever had an antibody test for HSV ?

None of your symptoms really sound like herpes, by themselves.  Herpes, if you acquired it and have these symptoms, would likely have other symptoms, like sores, as well.  to me, your symptoms are much more consistent with jock itch, or a mild fungal infection, as your doctor suggested.  You might try an antifungal powder in the groin area for a couple of weeks, see if it reduces the itching.

You could get antibody testing done.  If you've had it done previously and there is a change now, that would be significant.  but remember that you could be infected with herpes and just not know it.
