I have had genital herpes for 9 years, I am currently having some issues in regards to getting an accurate typing (I have already posted a question in regards to this on the experts forum). I am reasonably sure given the circumstances in which I acquired herpes and my western blot results that my pcr test inaccurately typed as HSV 2 when in fact I have HSV 1. Neither the GP or specialist I am currently dealing with feel it is an important distinction and are reluctant to continue testing--I feel differently. So I am off suppressive medication and trying to encourage an outbreak to have a second pcr. It has now been 2 months, in that time I have had one outbreak (the one which cause the typing controversy)...my concern is that ever since I went of the suppressives I have had swollen lymph glands in my groin. I am curious as to how common this might be, also whether it could indicate that there is viral shedding going on?
