possibility of herpes?

Hello Doctor,

I was in Thailand 2 weeks ago on business and one night I got too drunk for my own good and took a prostitute back to my room.  I had oral and anal sex, both wearing a condom at all times. The oral was very quick and the anal was even quicker. A matter of seconds really..definitely less than a minute.  The condom appeared in tact at all times.

So now we're just about 2 weeks after the fact. No signs or discomfort, other than what I create in my own mind. I'm a very obssesive and worrisome person when it comes to these things and have been for years. In the past I've made my penis hurt for weeks just by thinking about it with NO real problem at all. Anyway, yesterday morning I woke up and noticed a small - what looked like a friction burn (split skin) - on my shaft. Wasn't there or even red there the day before. However I did go running the day before wearing lose boxers and big non running shorts (ran for 30 mins).  I know my penis was flopping around in there.  And the next day I woke up with that little sore. No pain or irration. This morning, which would be day 2 , its just a little scab now.

Of course in my obssesive mind I think herpes immediately, even though there are no characteristics that I read about.  Am I just driving myself crazy like I usualy do with these things? Or should I be concerned? I still have no pain or discomforts anywhere else on my body.

Thanks in advance!

One of the doctors on this site wrote nothing less than 7-10 days from the point of blister (or lesion)  to the point of healing. I guess I misread.

the length of time really doesn't help decide if it's herpes or not. follow up with your provider with your concerns.

Hi grace, the scab that formed on day 2 came off in the shower today (day 4) and now looks how it normally would when a scab falls off. So this entire process happening within 4 days couldn't possibly be herpes?

it could be any number of things but odds are it isn't herpes.

Understand. Thanks Grace. But from what I described it doesn't appear to be herpes in your opinion?

this isn't the doctor's forum - you have to pay to post there.

we recommend protected sexual contact  because it works!! The odds that you'd contract genital herpes from a one time protected encounter are very, very low.

follow up with your regular provider for your current symptoms if you are concerned.
