What does it all mean???

So am I negative or positive for herpes??

Type of test ordered = HSV I/II IgG Rflx I−II Type Sp; Venipuncture

TESTS RESULT FLAG UNITS REFERENCE INTERVAL LAB

HSV I/II IgG Rflx I−II Type Sp
HSV I/II IgG 24.5 High index 0.0 − 0.8 01
Negative 1.0
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
either HSV−1 or HSV−2. Equivocal may suggest early
infection. If clinically appropriate, retest at a
later date. Positive indicates antibodies detected
to HSV−1 and/or HSV−2.

HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec <0.91 index 0.00 − 0.90 01
Negative 1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV−1. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV−1; coinfection
with HSV−2 cannot be excluded without type specific
testing.

HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec <0.91 index 0.00 − 0.90 01
Negative 1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV−2. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV−2; coinfection
with HSV−1 cannot be excluded without type specific
testing.

I had a full panel of tests done, results came back negative but I am nervous because on the list it shows a negative and a positive why isn't it one or the other? I've never had any concerns or health problems. Just decided to take a test to make sure. Here are the results in question..

HSV 1 and 2-Specific Ab, IgG
HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec <0.91 0.00-0.90 index LA
Negative 1.09
.
HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec <0.91 0.00-0.90 index LA
Negative 1.09
.

your doctor shouldn't be stumped at all. pretty easy peasy and they should stop ordering non-type specific combined testing on their patients too!

was the partner you had sex with 2 weeks ago a regular partner?

I have been in many relationships since and have had no problems.  Once thought I had an outbreak but now not sure if it was one or not.  That was years ago.  My doctor is stumped over the lab results.

was there a particular reason why you got tested? Suspicious and concerned since a partner once long ago claimed to have had herpes.  Over 20 years ago and I have been in denial

how long prior to testing had you last had sex?  2 weeks

still the same as before.

I can help you decide what testing to do next, if any, if you answer my 2 questions - thanks!
