does this sound like genital herpes

Hi doctor,
I recently had unprotected sex with a coworker, the condom broke but I kept going, dumb I know. I also performed oral sex on the partner. That was May 20th. I have been on my feet 34 hours working in the past 2 days waiting tables and bar tending and last night when I got home from work, I noticed that my groin was painful, almost like I had pulled the muscle and there was some discomfort in the groin region where sweat irritation could easily occur. And i have some discomfort in an area above the genital region but below the belt. Nothing on my shaft, scrotum or genital area seems to be affected. What are the odds that if this person had genital herpes, I was at risk to contract it? And is this too early to tell what it could be or do I have to wait a couple more days. I have had no redness, itching, burning or any signs of blisters. Am I in at a point in time now where I can assume I am in the clear?

If you have a group of lesions on the buttocks, you should have someone evaluate them if they don't feel like a normal pimple.  They will likely take a swab test if they think this might be herpes.

Thanks for the response, just curious about the location and symptoms of the sores... You the sore break out in closely bunched clusters and could they appear on a butt cheek? I have no penile or scrotal  issues, but I today noticed 3 or 4 bumps on my left cheek and they don't feel like a normal pimple would. They feel sore but nothing excruciating or severely uncomfortable like I imagine herpes sores would feel. But no I have not been tested, I have been primarily in monogomous relationships for the past 9 years, I know that doesn't mean anything but I just figured my chances are lower than most

I think your symptoms don't sound herpetic in nature.  Herpes would most likely result in symptoms on the penis itself, sometimes around the anus or at the top of the scrotum.  If this person did indeed have genital herpes, the odds of contracting it at one episode of intercourse, partly protected by a condom, wold be very low anyway.  The average time from infection to herpes symptoms, including sores, is 5.5 days.  I think the chances of your being infected from this encounter is low, but now zero.  Have you actually been tested for herpes antibody at any time in the past?  That would be good to know at some point so you know if you are still at risk of acquiring HSV or transmitting it.  Eighty percent of those infected don't know that they are.

hello? I paid $20 for this question, I would appreciate a response... I have noticed some abdominal discomfort as well and there is some generalized itchiness, but nothing segragated to a particular section. I have read that the "rash" becomes very red and swollen and feels like sunburn, and then blisters appear. It that in immediate succession or a few days after the rash appears? I have had no rash appear but just curious as to the timeline. thanks
