I am confused about my test results

In January 2016 I had a full STD panel completed including HSV IGM 1 & 2 and IGG 1 & 2.  My doctor told me that the IGM came back elevated .97 and the IGG 1 & 2 were both negative, so I would need to retest in 6 months. I of course became paranoid, I had unprotected sex in November 15.   A couple weeks after my test results I had tingling pain in my Perinium area and raw feeling with what I thought were bumps I went back to my OBGYN & she said she did not think they looked like herpes but did a swab anyway it came back negative for 1 & 2.  Of course this was a couple days after they had appeared. I had also had several yeast infection over about 6 months.   In June I retested & again IGM was elevated & IGG 1 & 2 are negative.  I have noticed a few small red bumps on both my inner thighs yesterday and have had white bumps on the top of my vulva for awhile.  I have asked my OBGYN if I need to come back in but she says no.  What is the likelihood of a false negative IGG after 8 weeks & 6 months even though IGM still elevated.

Yours is a very common tale. This is case of your gynecologist not knowing much about hsv testing. Thus she made you full of anxiety and on high alert for no reason what so ever.
First of all no std or hsv expert recommends igm testing for adults. They are unreliable and full of false positives. Just like yours. In theory the igm tests for antibodies your body produces when the infection first takes hold. Usually with in a week or so. Theno the anti bodies the igg testshould for take over. Now there is a reason you tested negative from the swab and from the igg tests (the only type of blood test you shouldo have received). You don't have hsv. I can not stress that enough. The fact your igm was still elevated many months later also should tell you the test was inaccurate.
Disregard the igm test and put hsv out of your mind. Even the very conservative CDC does not recommend the igm test for the exact reason your going through.

I hope this helps shed some light on your situation.
