It does seem there is a chance given the possibility you didn't have HSV1 previously and your husband does. It is wise I think to await the results before medication. There are other conditions, staph and fungal infections and molluscum that cause blister like lesions.
Saw gyno today. He seemed unconcerned. Did a swab, but said that it looked like it was healing. I told him it JUST came up last night. I guess I will wait and see what the test results are. He said I didn't need to start medicine until I have a positive test result. But I want meds NOW! There is no way this is NOT hsv. Tingling and blisters are, from what I've read, a sure sign.
I have never been tested for hsv, but have scheduled an appointment to have that done, asap. I don't recall ever having cold sores, but assume that, like the majority of people, I have probably been exposed to hsv-1. I guess I am wondering if because I am immuno-suppressed by Crohn's Disease medications, if I could have re-activated hsv-1, but genitally? I know, unequivocally, that my husband, nor I, have had any previous std's. And the first occurrence I had was related to his oral cold sore. I know it's remotely possible that I had previously never had hsv-1, but, I am skeptical about that line of reasoning.
Have you ever tested for HSV previously? Have you ever had oral cold sores yourself from your youth perhaps?
