Maybe herpes, major itchiness!

I just had sex with the first time, and a few weeks later I got swollen lymph nodes and bumps all over my vagina, and immediately thought herpes. I quickly went to the doctor and he initially told me not to worry, it just looks like and infection, and gave me an antibiotic and ovules. Five days later little improvement was seen to he sent me to a Gyn. He saw it, though by then it significantly improved, and he said looks like herpes. He gave me a herpes ointment, did a pap smear. In my opinion, the ointment didn't really improve my condition any faster then the rate I was already healing at. The pap smear came back negative. All my symptoms disappeared about a week and some days after the initial 'outbreak.' I felt   100% back to normal but a few days later i feel all itchy down there. The itch is only getting worse. The itch literally kept me up last night. No redness, bumps or swelling, just major itch.  Also after my 'outbreak' the boyfriend got tested for HIV and both herpes, all results negative. What could I possibly have?

It sounds like they think you have BV.  it can itch enough to drive you insane and you don't always have discharge. It can take several days until you start seeing a real difference from the medications for it too :(

Following up on this when you are back home sounds like a good course of action. Is your partner also coming home with you or is he a local where you are at now?

Question, is terrible itch after an outbreak even a symptom of herpes? I've read during an outbreak it is common, (something that I did not have) but now it's itch-city down there.

Thank you so much! I'm still freaking out b/c the symptoms are so similar to herpes. But, I suppose a little optimism doesn't hurt. I called the doc about my itch, he asked me if I had discharge, no discharge just itch. He ended up giving me something that they give people with fungal infections. I slept through the night, but woke up with itch still. Though I have only applied once, I guess no drug is a miracle cure.

I will def be getting a blood test, but probably when I'm back in the states. The cost here is through the roof. I go back in two weeks, that's not too long to wait, right? Also, yeah I really hate this Dr., on top of that fact that he doesn't really speak english, he's also a total douche.

Thanks a million lady!!!

A pap test looks for abnormal cervical cells. It doesn't test for std's. It doesn't detect herpes either unless you just happen to have an active herpes lesion present on your cervix and where they swabbed.

You don't just get herpes on the outside. You have it on the entire anogenital area.

If your bf had a herpes blood test that was negative , this could still be herpes but the odds are low. Even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections and if he's had partners besides you within the last 1 or 2 months, he could still be testing negative on the blood test for hsv2.  Odds are though that he doesn't have herpes and so neither do you.

I'd find a different doctor to go and be checked out at for starters.

Yeah, first time ever having sex. Is it possible to have herpes just on your skin? The doc told me b/c I have a negative pap I don't have herpes inside, but I might just have it outside. (or at least I think this is what he told me.) I'm currently in Spain, and I went to a clinic were supposedly the Dr.s speak english, that is false. No herpes blood test, the Dr. said it wasn't necessary b/c of my negative pap. Do you think I should get one? I have never had sex, and my partner is negative for both. So confused! And so frustrated b/c i don't speak the language well. :(

You need to go and be seen and properly examined again. get your vaginal secretions tested for yeast and bacterial infections again too.

Have you had a herpes blood test at all yet?  was this your first time you ever had sex?
