Medication effect

I foolishly had unprotected sex with a woman.  She told me she was absolutely clean. I'm married with kids, which makes my move even more un believeably stupid.  About 2 or 3 weeks later, I had sex with my wife (first time in about 4 or 5 months - she doesn't like it).  About 3 weeks after that, I had sex with the same woman.  4 days later, I started to get a slightly inflammed urethra.  I got pretty worried, but assumed I might have received something from my second encounter.  I waited a few days to see if it would go away, but it didn't.  Then my wife complained about a tingling irratated sensation in her vagina.  I panicked and went to a walk-in-clinic.  I told him my symptoms, and he gave zithromax and floxicillin.  I took the floxicillin on Saturday, and the zithromax on Sunday.  Sunday, overnight, I had diarrhea and a headache, which I hope came from the meds.  On Monday, I went and saw my doctor because I still had symptoms, and had acquired a couple more.  My penis became sensitive, and I just started getting mild lower abdominal cramping.  She did two swabs for chlamidia and Gonorrhea.  after I confessed to my wife this morning, I did bloodwork,  which seems to cover all std's except Herpes and HPV.  My cramps got a bit worse  today which really worries me.  As well, it seems that my penis is still sensitive.

Does this sound like Herpes??  Also, if it's Chlamidia, wouldn't the meds have taken effect yet??
I have been beyond scared now for a week.

your wife needs a new counselor if never having sex again was the conclusion that was come to in counseling. Not a very healthy attitude at all.

no, lower abdominal pain isn't really a herpes symptom.

the antibiotics were effective within 24 hours of taking them.

Thx again for your input.  I guess docotrs are human too.  I'll print out some info for my doc with respect to blood testing.

Also, when I first went to a walk-in-clinic, the doctor there said if there was pain in  the lower abdomen, it would be a symptom.  I didn't worry at the time, as I had no pain; however, when I did start to get pain, I began scouring the internet for confirmation, which lead me to you.

As for councelling, we've been quite a few times, and my wife has been going for about 6 months.  It was with her counceller the decision was made that she would not have sex, possibly ever.  When my wife broke it to me I supported her fully; however, I wasn't sure how I would cope after 4 months of no sex.  She even said she would understand if I had a one-nighter, but I told her I wouldn't.  Unfortunately, after having had some alcohol and going to a pub to watch a band, I proved that the road to hell was paved with good intentions.

Funny though, out of this whole post, I didn't get the information I had hoped.  Initially I was curious about the time it takes for zithromax and floxicillin to take effect.  Is there a typical timeline that these meds take full effect?

Thx again

No, the cramping is not related to herpes if indeed you did contract genital herpes.

Your doctor is wrong - there are type specific herpes igg blood tests available - WIDELY available. www.herpesdiagnosis.com has more info for more reading.

Perhaps it's time for the both of you to see a counselor?  Obviously some issues in the marriage that could use some work from the sounds of things.

Grace, thx for the quick response.
My wife got tested today for everything.  The doc told her that she hasn't seen irritation like hers, and is sending her to see a gynocologist.
As for the cramps, they seem different than I've ever had.  Also, I asked my doc about bloodwork for Herpes, and she said there was nothing but a swab test if/when I break out.
As far as sex goes, I feel pretty confident that my wife won't touch me again, even though she put me through the same ordeal 1.5 years ago, when she acquired HPV.  I know it's no excuse for my actions, I just didn't want to come across as pure evil.  I'm sure you've heard this before Grace, but I'm now empty inside, and the pain won't go away.  I don't think i'm looking for sympathy, I just feel like I'll never expect intimacy from my wife again.  No condoms needed.
Is lower abdominal cramping/pain not typical for Herpes?

The cramps are probably nerves combined with diarrhea from the antibiotics. If you like yogurt, pick up some of the probiotic types that are popular now and try to eat it 2-3x/day for a few days.

You'll have to wait for the results of your testing to come back. There aren't any commercially available tests for hpv in males but you can also get a baseline herpes igg blood test now and then repeat it along with syphilis and hiv 3 or 4 months from now to cover all those bases. Meanwhile it's probably best if you use a condom with your wife until then. She too needs to be seen and get proper testing done too on herself.
