Military STD Testing and Herpes HELP ME!!!!

I have recently been informed I have Herpes I and II. My ex will not tell me if he has it or not when I informed him which he blames me due to an early encounter at the beginning of our dating. That individual was PROTECTED SEX and has been tested NEGATIVE but he doesn't know that. My levels say it has been in my system for a while. Herpes II  level >5.0 so that only leaves two out of the three individuals including him. He had sex with me when I left a long term relationship unprotected which I didn't remember so he could have done this to me. He also says he got tested several times when we were dating. Why and never told me but I got blamed for getting my testing done. I kept asking to get tested for STDs but he said he couldn't get into the clinic and then I'm all good. I don't believe him. If I had this for a long time how did not show up in him if we did everything under the sun. I have several questions about Military STD testing because he keep saying I EXPOSED him to Herpes. He also said the doctor emailed and told him his levels were high on Herpes Simplex II and he should wait until next month to be test but didn't have any levels information. Are military results not Positive or Negative and this was a month after I told I was diagnosed. I don't understand. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

We've always had unprotected sex from day one when we stated back dating. I know never trust someone like that again.

Questions: Do military have to get Herpes testing EVER?
When they deploy and return is it mandatory?
Are there classes once Military test positive for a Virus?
At the Military Clinic are the testing sent via email and do they receive hard copies of the result at anytime?
How hard is it to go to a appointment at the On Base Clinic?
How long does it take to get blood results and how is it notified?
What are the normal testing done and when?

Thanks for the help. I do not feel guilty or ashamed because I think he had it but I will never know. He lies about everything. I just wanted to know his levels to determine how long he may have had it because he says he never came up positive all this time. That's odd. He's got tested three times since we were together and nothing but I've had this the whole time both times we dated. Waiting on one other test result from the possible other person and I will know if it was him.

Re-read what I said above. NO test can tell someone was only exposed. Postive means infected. There are no exceptions.

It sounds like your partner may be right, that he caught HSV2 from you. Most herpes infections are transmitted by people who have it but don't know it, because they don't have symptoms. So there's no blaming -- at least there shouldn't be. If it turns out this is what happened, there is nothing for you to feel guilty or ashamed about. I hope you and the doctors can make your partner understand this.

That's what I thought. The doctor told him he had HSV 1 which is normal. But was Exposed to HSV 2 his level were higher than normal but to test  again next month. He then said that was not his normal doctor and he was getting retested again. Now, he's screaming I exposed and him but I didn't know or had any symptoms.

The word exposed is confusing to me. It can mean you came across someone with it or you contracted it from that person. I think way to far into things.

" What does it mean to say you had higher than normal level but you have to get tested next month to make sure for Herpes II?"

Presumably that's your partner's test result, right? Your own result of 5.0 doesn't require additional testing. For sure you have it. For your partner, this usually means they suspect a relatively new infection and want to see if the number rises with a repeat test. If it does, it would confirm he was infected recently. (Maybe caught it from you?) If and when you can get the exact numbers of his tests, we can comment more accurately.

"And saying you were exposed to herpes?" Whatever doctor made that statement doesn't completely understand HSV. A positive result means infection is present. There is no test for exposure without infection.

Minor point, but proper terminology for HSV types is 1 and 2, not I and II. (But many doctors and labs make the same mistake!)

If you want to investigate this. Ask to see his last test report and have him test again now but in situations like this its possible youve had this for a while from an affair in the past and he did not contract it yet if in fact hes negative.

Yes, he said that he got tested three times since we were dating excluding when I found out. (twice this year) so how odes it not show in his system at all the whole time. That's just wierd to me. We always had unprotected sex.

Thank you. What does it mean to say you had higher than normal level but you have to get tested next month to make sure for Herpes II? And saying you were exposed to herpes?

You already said that. It doesn't change my advice. Your main problem is only HSV2. Half of all adults have HSV1. It usually doesn't matter.

Hi im not sure if anyone here has info about military testing but if your trying to find out who you got it from it wont be easy and will at best be an assumption. Levels 5 and above would be considered an old infection and will say that contracting herpes from a one time affair, using a condom with no sores at the time would close to zero risk.
A person most often contracts it when a sore is there but they think its something else like a pimple and this is the main reason. The more unprotected sex a person has with one person, that person would most often be the cause,
I would suggest your husband take a blood test.

I'll try to help, but we don't have the answers to most of your questions, and  there's no way we can sort out when and by whom you caught HIV, or whether you infected anyone else.

With an HSV2 test result of 5.0, you definitely are infected with HSV2. However, that says nothing about how low you have been infected.  Probably it's at least 6 weeks, but could be many years. The only way you can possibly know when it started is if you had symptoms at that time.

I'm pretty sure the US military has no special rules about testing, counseling, or educating troops about herpes and I doubt there are any "classes" about it. If a soldier or family member is eligilble for care at a base clinic, probably they phone the clinic and ask for an appointment. Maybe there are walk-in services as well. Each clinic probably has its own system. It should be easy to phone and ask, or look up the information on line.

Whether tested by the military or any other place, HSV blood test results typically are available in a few days. Results may be available by phone, email, or in person -- this probably is up to the clinic or to the doctor or medic who sees the patient. In and out of the military, HSV testing is usually done when the patient requests it, or if there are symptoms that suggest possible herpes.
