Could this be herpes or genital warts? Both?

A little over 5 months ago I fooled around with a girl. We never had sex. Just oral and our genitals touched. Well, about a week after that I started getting mild itching on my penis, testicles, anus and underarms. I also had slight soreness under my arms which would come and go (pretty sure it was my lymph nodes) and much milder and less occasional soreness near my groin area. I was sure this was herpes and I was just waiting for the inevitable sores to show up.

Well, it's been over 5 months and still no sores, but I recently noticed something that looks like a genital wart. The problem is, when you are closely inspecting every centimeter of your skin for anything unusual it's hard to know if it's been there all along or if it's new. It's a very small, flat (not flat pressed against skin, more like a flat mole that still sticks up) and slightly brown. It's located on the side of my testicle near the crease region by the thigh. Could this possibly be a skin tag?

I'm just so confused about my symptoms. Itchiness for over 5 MONTHS straight (with only a day here and there with no itchiness) and all I see after 5 months is a possible wart. I feel like I'm going crazy and sometimes I feel like it's all in my head. Can the mind cause this kind of prolonged itchiness?

I know I should see a doctor, but as stupid as it sounds I'm afraid to. I'm still on my mothers insurance and I'm not sure if she will be notified if I see a doctor and I don't want her to know. As for Planned parenthood clinics, I'd be too embarrassed to even walk into one. I know I have to go though. I've put it off for way too long. I have a picture of the potential wart, but I don't know if it's appropriate to post here.

Does any of this sound like herpes or genital warts to you guys?

if you were a virgin before this, I wouldn't bother with any testing. it would be helpful to know your hsv1 status at some point though.

no, fungal infections don't always smell. usually just itching is a classic sign of jock itch.

Thanks for the response and no I haven't had Gardasil. She's the only person I've done more than kiss with but I'll probably get the full STD testing anyways.

And as for it being a fungal infection. I thought those infections had observable symptoms and sometimes smell?

you are allowed medical privacy at your age even though you are on your parents insurance. don't hesitate to call your insurance and explain why you need the privacy so that they are careful about what info is on the bills they send to your parents house.  PP is very good at knowing how to word things on billing too if you go there.

herpes doesn't cause itching for this long. neither does hpv.

odds are you have a fungal infection causing all this itching. go and be seen and get it checked out for a proper diagnosis as well as they can look at the spot you have to see if it looks like a wart or not. have you had your gardasil shots for hpv?

if you are sexually active and have never had proper std testing, while it's on your mind and you are going to be seen anyways, it's a good time to pursue full testing. make sure it includes herpes igg blood testing too so you know what your status is for future partners.
