HSV 1 Positive swab reading

HSV 1 contraction question.

I've been seeing a girl for over a year constantly having unprotected sex, about 2-3 weeks ago she was tested and got negative for everything including hsv 1 and 2.

I have had cold sores before as a teenager and I'm now 22.

After engaging in sex on Friday night i woke up on Saturday morning and I had two lesions on the underside of the head of my penis, that looked like friction burn from rather rough sex that id had the night before.

I went to the doctors on the Sunday to get them looked at just out of paranoia even though my partner had been clean.

They were not painful in any way shape or form. They never blistered or scabbed or exuded any liquid and responded to anti-fungal cream to the point they were both gone by Monday.

Then the swab test came back positive for hsv 1.

I haven't received oral sex for a very long time, my partner was clear of both hsv 1 and 2.

I'm just wondering if this could be a false reading. I know its a long shot but I'm just really scared?

I was afraid of that. Thank you though.

She had a swab, a blood test and a scrape.

I haven't had any other lab or formal testing for HSV, so you may be correct. I just assumed the sores I'd get around my mouth were hsv because they looked and felt the part. My mother and the rest of my family got them a bit too so that further reinforced my assumption.

So to that end that infections of second locations are so rare, and most people have oral hsv 1, does that mean my chance of transmission is exceedingly low?

It is unlikely that the swab would be wrong, contamination or

What test did your partner have for HSV? It must be an IgG antibody test for any credibility and even these miss 1 in 10 HSV1 infections.

Have you ever had HSV testing? To become infected in a second location is such a rare event that it brings into question as to whether you really do have an oral infection.
