HSV Transmission Question

Help! HSV risk of transmission

Here is the story. I work at a medical facility and went to do a quick procedure on a patient. When I arrived she had welts and red bumps, some oozing, and all over her body. I never seen anything like this before. I wore gloves from what I can remember and cleaned off the machine when I was finished. After I finished the xray which only involved a few quick pictures of her hand, the nurse arrived and told me she had herpes. The outbreak was all over her body! I didnt think much of it but realized she should have been on precautions. Turns out she was, but there was no proper signs on the doors. My question is, can you get HSV 2 from touching a persons hand who may or may not have had fluids from a sore on her? I may have touched something but I do remember washing my hands. Could I transmit the virus and get genital herpes from a sore that was on her hand and touched my hand? I may have had a cut, I dont know and I dont think so, but there is a possibility I touched something with the virus on it, like her hand. Pleaase help.

Even if you had a cut the odds would be to low to be a serious issue. The cut would have to be extremely fresh.. like mins old.
I agree the only way for the outbreak to be so extreme was that she was immunecompromised. Honestly you really have nothing to worry about

Thanks for the response! The reason I was so upset is because they had her on airborne precautions, but no sign on the door. I don’t remember if I had gloves on and touched her hand but she did indeed have an outbreak all over her body. She went septic and was immunocompromised. Her case was very abnormal but there was a chance I could have touched her hand that had open wounds. If I had a cut on my hand, it is possible right?!

You can relax. You won't contract herpes this way. Not to mention I have never had anyone have herpes all over the body. Either way you don't need to worry
