Oral HSV 1 or 2 - Terry Warren Please Help!!

Hi Terry

I have a question that I desperately need an answer for.  I have also posed a similar question in the community forums but would like some more insight from you if possible please.

Last week Friday I met a man, the only sexual contact that we had: I licked and sucked on his scrotum for approximately 2-3 minutes.  I did not notice any obvious sores or blisters on his scrotum (it was broad daylight so I got a decent look).  I did NOT move onto his penis at all, eventhough it looked clear of any obvious sores as well.
Two days after this event, while brushing my teeth, I noticed that I had a cluster of red spots at the top of my mouth (on the hard palate I believe).  These red spots do not hurt.  Now on day 5 with these red spots, I have not noticed any ulcers forming within the red spots either.  They look very very similar to what I 'think' broken blood vessels underneath the skin might look like.  If this is broken blood vessels, when should I expect them to disappear?

I am incredibly nervous about this encounter and about this 'rash' in my mouth.  Could this be a primary infection rash?  Would there be anything else associated with this rash if it were primary infection?  Could this be simply broken blood vessels from sucking and also from a coughing fit that I had the day after this sexual encounter??
I am desperate for advice - I have two infant children at home and am incredibly SCARED of passing Herpes onto my children as I have heard that this can be incredibly detrimental to their health at such a young age.

Is it common for people to acquire oral herpes in this manner, by sucking on a scrotum??
Please, Please help.  Your expert advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Harj

Just today a HUGE, painful red spot has formed on my right nostril - it hurts and is very red... Could this be the beginning of a coldsore?  Is it common to get coldsores on this location??
I just want this all to stop, I am so scared I want to throw up...
I need your help Terry - please

Dear Nurse Warren,

Thank you for your response!  I must say,  you are a saint and are my only source of  what little sanity I have left at the moment!

So you think that it could have been nothing more then popped blood vessels on the roof of my mouth??  (this question I think is what I need the answer to most - I need to make sense of the rash that appeared and then disappeared following the encounter I had)!

You are right, I am incredibly distraught - and feel like I am beginning to lose it altogether... I think I will seek out treatment - as I feel like I can't even get myself out of bed some days anymore!  Is this what it feels like to be depressed - scared and alone!!

You've recommended HSV 1 testing as a way to reassure me, and I will do that - but do you honestly, truthfully believe that I do not need to be tested as a result of this encounter?  Would a test at 4 weeks be a good indicator??

Finally, is it possible to that the tingly, stingy feeling in the corners of my lip is simply cracked lips as a result of constantly licking the corners of my lips - can saliva do that??

Nurse Warren, I am sorry for sounding so irrational.  I am an educated, hardworking guy who loves his family but now feels seriously estranged from them all - I HATE MYSELF!!

Please just answer these last questions that I've posed and I will try my best to stop asking questions and simply get tested and hopefully move on.
Sincerely,
Harj

If you look into the corners of most people' mouths, they have very small bump in the corners. These are completely normal.  You could certainly get blood vessels popping from sucking on the skin.

You do need serious help, but in the counseling area, not the medical area.
I would suggest herpes testing for you as a way to reassure you, but you may well have been infected with HSV 1 for years and didn't know it, and I'm afraid if it is positive, that will really freak you out. What do you think?

I have checked and re-checked and am really not sure if the rash is greyish or not - I am also not sure if it was there before, but I know for a fact that this tingly feeling is new - please help.
Also, please let me know if the blood vessells popping from sucking is possible... I need serious help!!
I am growing more and more terrified and feel very isolated and alone!!

Hi Nurse Warren,

I'm back and still worried.  I've decided I will go ahead and test for herpes.  And possibly even try and seek out some counselling.  I'm most concerned as already mentioned about my babies!

As of yesterday (17days from the encounter) I've noticed some slight pain in both corners of my lips.  When looking closely, there is no obvious redness, but it does look like a slightly raised rash in both corners of my mouth around the corners of my lips.  You can only see this when I open my mouth wide and look at the two corners.  I am terrified that both corners are now going to erupt into coldsores!!  I am trying my best to see past this and not think about it.  I am hoping that this is nothing more then dry skin that is a little aggravated.

I am also still worried about what that initial rash in my mouth was - Nurse Warren, could it have been broken blood vessels from the sucking action??  Is that at all possible?  Have you ever heard of that happening?

Any further support you can offer me would be great - I continue to live in constant FEAR and frustration - and I am beginning to truly HATE MYSELF more and more each day!!

Thank you,
Harj
