PCR swab test

Three years ago I had a herpes blood test that came back negative for both. I'm unsure of what test was used but it was done around the 14th week of my last possible exposure.

Fast forward to three years I am pregnant with my second child (I had first two years ago with no issues) and I've been experiencing a lot of issues. For the past two months my labia has been red, swollen and itchy. Maybe with a day break but for the most part constantly swollen and Irritated. When I first noticed it I went straight to the doctor (within 5 hours of symptoms) and she noticed a straight cut on my labia minoria and majoria. She swabbed it and sent it to the lab for tests, including for herpes 1 & 2.

My insurance covers Labcorp and they use PCR DNA testing for swabs. Everything came back negative but it showed a yeast infection. She coughed it up to dry skin. A few weeks later I noticed a few new cuts but I felt my skin rip prior to checking it. Once again I was seen within 12 hours of the tear appearing and another PCR swab was taken. Negative once again for herpes but showed BV growth.

Now I'm back at the lab for a blood IGG that I had to request from my doctor. I suppose my question is how reliable are PCR swab tests on fresh sores? My doctor is confident in the two separate tests.

Thank you. I did some research and that's why I requested a blood test. I just left the lab so results will be available in a few days.

Yes i would be confident as well as are very accurate but as a rule a thumb, all swabs are considered final only in finding an infection as can miss it so only a blood test would be final

I received my IGG test back that came back with a 3.65 for HSV and negative for type 2. I know pretty much every other person carries type one. Is it safe to rule out gential herpes for the issues I'm having while pregnant? (I did receive two PCR swab tests on fresh lesions that tested negative for both types.)
