Planning a surgery and have HSV

I'm planning to have breast augmentation surgery.  I have HSV1 and 2.  Can the surgery cause a flare up?  I take Valtrex 1 gm daily for suppression.  Could this affect the anesthesia?  Do I have to tell the surgeon?

odds are your bf really just has a cold and sore throat. those are cold symptoms, not the flu like symptoms associated with herpes.

typically hsv1 reactivates totally separate from hsv2 when you have both.

your pimple sounds just like that and you have no real reason to think otherwise.

Thanks Grace.  New question now.  I had what I thought was a pimple above my eyebrow last weekend.  I popped it and realized it wasn't one as it had a clear liquid in it and the center seemed like a crater.  As it healed it looked familiar with a crust forming on top and today it is scabbed over and still looks like a small crater.  I don't recall it itching or tingling but I'm pretty sure it was some sort of outbreak.  Do you know how likely it is that it would be HSV1 or 2.  Any guess on which type could be located up there.  I thought I felt a pain in my head last week near my ears and I think I was a little tingly at the corner of my mouth where I get occassional cold sores. I also recall having a dull headache for a few days.  Also, does an outbreak or shedding sometimes cause pains throughout your body.  It seems like I've had occassional pains over the past week like throbbing in my arm, leg and buttock.  Should you expect that if you are shedding for HSV1 that you are also likely shedding HSV2 at the same time.
My boyfriend told me he's starting to come down with a cold and has a sore throat and feels congested.  Could this be a sign that he might have been exposed?  He said he has not ever tested positive for HSV.

herpes and valtrex aren't issues for this type of surgery or anesthesia.  It might trigger a recurrence  or it might not.  No harm in upping your dose a day or two before surgery or even the day or so after surgery. If you need to skip a day too because of the surgery, that's ok too.

best of luck!
