Possible herpes?

I have ongoing nerve pain in my legs and left ankle.  I am sore in the vaginal area, but don't have lesions.  I thought for sure I had a lesion, but the Dr. said it was a cyst. I have had oral herpes 1 since 1/08, but had what might have been a genital "outbreak" in 9/08. I am concerned because I know the man I was dating at the time had what I now know to be a cold sore, and we had oral activity below the waist that same day.  Any responses to this would be appreciated. I removed your other post since it's easier to keep it all in this one. we ask this in our read before posting post on the forum.

http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  has terrific info on hsv1 orally. Your oral herpes would be what your daughter would be at risk of contracting though at her age now, it's not really a risk for her. social pecks do not transmit the virus once you get to be about school age.

unless you have a lesion culture of active symptoms, no way to know if your hsv1 is also genital. Genital hsv1 infections are pretty "classic" in their appearance - multiple blisters, very painful and pretty obvious. you know your hsv1 is oral. No way to know if you also have it genitally unless you get a return of symptoms and get them cultured.

to add to your previous concerns in your other post - if you do have hsv1 genitally too, your daughter is not at risk for it. No one should ever share toothbrushes, razors, body puffs, towels or washcloths - not because herpes is easily transmitted through sharing them but because other very common germs are easily transmitted through sharing them.  genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease and your daughter isn't at risk for it since we don't have that sort of contact with our children.
