Potential HSV 1 Transmission

Dears health professional,

A person with a cold sore recently kissed my head.It was just a peck and was on my hair.

What is the likelihood that I may have Oral Herpes? Last year, I tested negative for both HSV 1 and HSV 2. So I'm really scared I might have it now.

In your experience, has it ever occurred that HSV-1 was transmitted through the hair/head?

I'm 18, if that matters.

Both protect. I only mention the head  as is part of the ganglion but you should not be at all concerned about this in the least.

Does the skin of the skull offer protection from the virus entering the nerve? Or is the nerve just under the hair, and is exposed to anything that touches my head?

I'm sorry for asking many questions, but I'm paranoid about many things..

Herpes is attracted to mucus membranes  and soft tissue area like the lips and at that needs to be rubbed to force the virus into the nerve. What your concerned about is not really a possibility

To be completely honest,  I feel a bit more worried  by your response.

What if the saliva or spit from the kiss touch the skull? Am I guaranteed herpes?  What about the skin of the skull? Doesn't that account for something?

Hi what your describing would not be a any issue of concern, even through your head nerves might be connected to the nerve ganglion the hair would have been a barrier. Really nothing  to be concerned about.
