Pregnant and herpes

I was told I had herpes 5 years ago... I'm 29 wks pregnant now they did the testing in the beginning and nothing came back... I had about 5 outbreaks total... I was never told which type so confused..

you might not even have been tested for herpes with your pregnancy - you'll need to ask specifically to see if you were or not.

If you've had 5 ob's odds are it's hsv2 and not hsv1 but certainly find out what testing was done originally and see if your infection was typed or not. did they do a lesion culture of symptoms 5 years ago?

have you and your obgyn discussed you starting daily suppressive therapy at 36-37 weeks to help decrease the odds of having an active lesion present at the time of delivery so you can deliver vaginally?
