I think I have herpes - please help.

I seemed to get a very red rash that covered my entire glans/foreskin area following unprotected sex a few months ago. I assumed(hoped) that this was due to yeast but have only had protected sex a few times since on purpose.

A week or so ago i seemed to have tingling/itching in the glans area as well as sickness (swollen lymph node in the throat) and fever like symptoms. I also experienced a few throbbing pains that subsided quickly. A few days later 3-4 very small (3-4mm) red dots appeared that are somewhat itchy. They don't appear to be very raised, and do not appear to have any fluid whatsoever in them.

I'm fairly convinced that I have herpes (as well as devastated) and plan to get checked ASAP. Any comments/advice would be very much appreciated.

There is no set size for herpes lesions.

This really sounds more like a fungal issue. see your provider.

I really appreciate your help on this matter. I'm sure I could go on but i'll try to make this my last post.

1. What is the range of size of a herpes blister. In other words is there a possibility these red dots could in fact be very small blisters?
2. I have some discoloration on the bottom of the glans on one side. Does this symptom mean anything to you?
3. Do you have any suggestions for remedies that I can attempt in the meantime?

Thank you so much for your responses.

red dots usually are not herpes. Usually they are fairly painful or at least itchy lesions aka blisters/uclerations.

If you don't want to go and be seen today or tomorrow for a lesion culture of active symptoms  then wait 4 months since the last time you had sex and get a type specific hsv2 igg blood test then.  Really this sounds more like fungal or irritation than anything.

Lol. Good point. I'll refrain from cracking on myself here.

Anyways...

This doesn't sound like herpes to you? I've read a lot about it and the symptoms (other than having red spots instead of blisters) seem very similar....

Is it possible for red dots to appear and disappear without becoming full blown blisters? I'm almost positive that I have HSV1 because I get cold sores every so often. Would this be the reason for reduced symptoms if I do in fact have herpes? They are definitely nothing like what I experience with HSV1 sores.

Also it appears that getting an IGG test may be rather costly. Do you think it may be a good idea to wait until some sort of symptom appears and just refrain from sexual activity until then?  This experience has really made me empathize with those who have HSV2.

Might want to change to the male gender if you have a penis...he he he  You are currently listed as female.

seeing your provider is the best course of action. This could be many different things and we'd just be guessing as to what is is.  It really doesn't sound like herpes though from your description.
