Question fo Grace

Hi Grace, hope you are doing well.  Quick question.  Is there any difference between getting tested 3 months instead of 4 for HSV ? I remember reading somewhere that I had to wait 4 months post last exposure.  March 31 is my four month mark, but I wanted to see if getting a test done at 3 month mark would hinder the results.  Thank you in advance.  This is for both HSV1 & 2 IGG.

I really don't think I was being rude.  I will tel you what.  I won't post here anymore.  Out of respect for this site.  Because everyone has an attitude.  And I did thank you for the link and your response.

I gave you a link because HHH in it answers your question you had specifically. I didn't feel the need to add much more to what mistakeguy said because the link covered it and why should I repeat exactly what HHH said so well in the link I gave you?

I reported your post to the mods and they removed it. continue to be rude and you'll be reported again.   you've been getting help each time you've asked for it so I don't think that you have a right to complain when you get a link that specifically answers your question!

Yes, you are right, they are open to everyone and anyone.  I am not apologizing to him because I haver read in countless threads him hijacking it as if he is an expert.  People come on this board for help and answers to specific questions, but it seems you pick and choose who you want to coddle and answer.  I have seen you give paragraph like answers to some members and all I get is a link, like you cannot be bothered.  I asked for you for a reason, the reason is you were most knowledgable about Herpes, not MistakeGuy.  Would you like me to cut and paste posts where he has stated "I cannot answer this but Grace should pop in at any moment?"

In the future please keep all questions in a single thread.  This is covered in our read before posting.

The reason we suggest 3-4 months is really dependant on the test.  There is only one test on the market that has been found to find a majority of positives by 12 weeks (3 months) which was the HerpeSelect test.  In other tests it takes them 4 months (this is even true for the Western Blot which is the gold standard test for HSV).  Now the majority of people do test positive by 3 months which is why we say 3 months.  Terri Warren the Herpes Expert here at MH advises her posters/patients to wait 16 weeks (4 months).

There is not going to much of a difference and really its up to you if you want to wait 4 months.  Though I would say test at 3 months and move on with life.  Majority of people would have tested positive by then.  I would say don't keep testing over and over.
