HSV 1 Concern

'm going to schedule an appointment with my gynecologist, I'm just nervous and looking for some insight in the meantime.

Symptoms: For the last few months I have gotten itchy near my clitoris. The itch comes and goes - it can last from a few hours to a day. Generally no longer than 24 hours. There is no pattern to the frequency - sometimes it happens once a week, sometimes it's longer in between itching. Also, it does not itch all the time when it is there - it only itches if I rub it. I have no other symptoms. No smell, no discharge, no bumps/sores/lesions. No change in color or texture. I also get itchy outside my vagina every now and then too – not as frequently – and generally near my period. I don’t know if the two itches are related.

I am not sexually active. This itching started happening 8 or 9 months after my last sexual encounter which was only unprotected oral sex (receiving) - 3 times over a period of 2 weeks - so my concern would be HSV 1.

Questions:

1. After my last possible exposure I tested for HSV. My test results were as follows:
     1 - HSV 1 negative
     2 - HSV 1 positive 1.12
     3 - HSV 1 negative
     4 - HSV 1 negative
5 - HVS 1 negative - this last test was at 4 months post exposure and included all other STD tests including HSV 2.

I have concerns about the HSV 1 results being false negatives since I tested positive for it once. Is it likely that the negatives are false negatives?

(I wasn't having symptoms during the testing - I just get paranoid - I know I probably over tested for HSV).

2. I have read that localized recurring itching in the same location each time can be herpes. Do my symptoms sound herpetic?

3. Would symptoms take a year to show up and then consistently recur?

4. Do I need further testing for herpes?

Like I said, I'm going to schedule an appointment with my gynecologist, I'm just trying to determine what I need to prepare myself for. I have read many posts on the forum, but have not seen any symptoms similar to what I am experiencing so I decided to post my own question. Thank you.

this doesn't sound at all like genital herpes going on. I doubt it's a yeast issue either. Probably just irritation more than anything.

Certainly discuss it with your gyn at your appointment so they can get a good look at the area that bothers you typically to make sure they don't see anything else going on.

Hi, no you dont need any further testing for hsv1 as you are surely negative as evidenced by your last 3 tests. The one positive was a false positive. You may have developed a fungal infection but not so much from the oral but from frequent touching it. These are very senitive areas and doesnot take much to develop cronic itching. If its fungal, youll need some antifungal cream to aide in clearing it up.
Its possible that this did start off from the oral as a change in your skins pH ocurred where natural flora grow out of control.
