Cold sore 2.5 weeks after possible exposure

Hello and thank you for the advice and assistance.

2.5 weeks ago, I had unprotected sex and gave/received unprotected oral sex with a lady in her mid 30s that I do not know well. She was very concerned about my sexual health, as I of hers, which was comforting at the time, but obviously still risky. I now have a cold sore on my lip almost 3 weeks later. This is not unusual for me, as I get 1 or 2 a year on my lips since I was young. The time frame after the possible exposure is concerning, though. That being said, i haven't had any blisters on my penis. Early on, I thought I may have had 3 separate blisters on my scrotum a week after the exposure, but the sores didn't look or feel like a cold sore, and the location of those blisters were almost at the complete bottom of my scrotum, which seems like a strange place to catch herpes (nothing near the shaft base or penis itself). Those blisters also didn't scab and crust like my cold sores would. They may have been formed from general scratching down there. I haven't experienced any unusual itching, pain, or tingling either. Also no genital discharge or burning during urination.

My question is how likely do I now have hsv1 and hsv2 on my lips? If I did in fact catch hsv2 on my lips in addition to hsv1, wouldn't the unprotected vaginal sex have caused an outbreak on my penis as well at this point, and wouldn't that be more likely than it just catching on my mouth? What are the chances I have a typical hsv2 outbreak orally and an atypical hsv2 outbreak genitally with no symptoms?

I'm trying to build some confidence that this is just an untimely hsv1 outbreak currently on my mouth. Where I live, the weather has also recently changed and was just hit with lower fall temperatures with dry crisp air right as the sore was developing. Ive also been living with the guilt and stress of putting myself in this position, which I've read can trigger normal cold sores.

I received an early detection DNA analyzing blood work test that returned positive for hsv1 (which I expected) and a negative for hsv2, but those tests were taken only 9 days after possible exposure. A very helpful guy named David gave me some insight on that in the std forum. I will rested retest at 3 months.

Thanks again for any advice!

Dave is a smart guy. Hsv2 is very rarely contracted orally. I wouldn't be concerned for hsv2 in your oral cavity. The odds of getting hsv2 on your genitals is extremely low. Even if she had hsv2 your odds are roughly 1 in a 1000 for a single exposure. Very low indeed.
