Recent Lab Results HSV-2

I am a male who recently broke up with an ex. Have been in search of another partner for a couple weeks. I received oral from a woman I was not too fimilar with and got a full STD check done before moving on to any more relationships. I took the test 1.5 weeks after my last encounter.

Results came back. HSV-2 IgG 1.18 (abonormal) positive. I've been doing a lot of research lately and some things are clear and ALOT is not. I am approaching the results as positive and protecting myself and others before moving on to another relationship. I am questioning the blood test. The test was done on a Thursday and did not post until the following week on Monday. I am really hoping the the results are a false positive. Never had a STD before and I am still praying for the best. By the way the test was done by Quest Diagnostics. Blood was drawn and also urine for the full STD test.

Consultant said to prepare myself mentally for this life changing event. Retest in 3-4 months. I was thinking of retesting now and again in 3-4 months hoping that the first test may be a false positive. I've setup a follow up with a physician to help with educating me and possibly retest.

1.what are the chances that the low positive results are correct diagnosis. Even without any visual signs of herpes how accurate can the test be for blood work. Before I accept this I just want to make sure that it is %100 correct.

2.Is there any steps that I may need to take for this. I'm emotionally and drained from this and it's only been a day. I've recently received two spider bites on my leg. Day later I felt discomfort along my belt line and love handles on the right side opposite from the spider bite. The test showed negative for HSV-1 (lesions above the belt), but one of the rashes was below/ even with the belt line. Does this indicate anything or am I jumping to conclusions??? I DID have irriatation along the pelvic region but no signs of lesions (2 weeks ago I shaved).

You're welcome. My money is on a false positive. Please keep me updated when you test again

You are jumping to conclusions. First off the odds of hetting hsv2 from oral sex is astronomically low. You probably have a better chance being struck by lightning durring a shark attack. So lets rule that out. Plus your testing was to soon to show anything.
Hsv2 igg blood tests are very sensitive and pick up on other protiens. False low positives are common. You have better than a 50/50 chance this is a false positive. My advice is wait a few weeks and retest.
