Retest for Herpes, Im confused

I recently got a comprehensive STD panel for documentation purposes as I am getting ready to get in a serious relationship that leads to marriage and I was very shocked and sad about my results for HSV.  the results were 38.20 for hsv1 and 23.60 for hsv2. Ive never had a cold sore or genital lesions or sores.  For some reason the numbers are so off and couldnt find any reference range on line or the reports range were super low so I couldnt understand why the result were so high. How is that?  I am really considering retesting and seeing my gyn.  I am very conscious about my health and very knowledgeable about the differences in the virus.  I was so sad, and down because I dont sleep with a man without knowing his status.  Also, its been 5 months since ive been intimate and cant fathom how is this.  I know they say most people have HSV1 but ive never had any cold sores or sores from below.  Im just so worried and feel ashame bc I do not take part in risky sexual behaviors.  I told my husband to be.  We have not slept with each other as were waiting to commit ourselves to each other first.  please help me.

This would indicate a positive infection for both hsv1 and hsv2. Most doctors say elivated numbers like this mean nothing but from ive read it means an older infection.

Thanks for responding. It is just weird that the number was so high and no reference chart matches it.

please ask your doctor if that number represents the level of antibodies in your system. I have a number too for both but mine are much lower but still over the recommended number that says that you're positive. I'm hsv1 >5.00 hsv 2. 4.51. all my doctor told me is that at some point I was exposed, but no telling whe, And that I have antibodies for it in my system.

The test I took was the hsv 1and2 Specific Ab, IgG. With those results I indicated in the original post, the reference was index negative if less than 0.91 equivocal 0.91-1.09 and positive if greater than 1.09.  Why my results would be in the 30s for hsv or high 20s for hsv2. The numbers are just weird or im not understanding the interpretation for this test. My results just say high on both. I'm so confused. I'm seeing my doctor on monday

You really need more details on what the test results mean and how to interpret them. Some tests have index results and others have units for which you'd need to be over 70 for a firm positive for example.

Try to get more details on the test, whether IgG and the reference ranges.
