Will an HSV-2 IGG blood test be positive if sores are present?

I tested negative for hsv2 19 days after possible exposure, however, I believe I'm experiencing some pre-outbreak symptoms like burning in some areas. Is it possible to have a negative IGG blood test even when sores are present? Also (for genital herpes positive people) what are good ways of preventing the outbreak or making it less severe before it fully starts? Thanks

Most people will test negative during their initial outbreak because they haven't had time to form antibodies yet.
