Hi Grace,
I posted a couple of years ago after having unprotected sex with a guy I was seeing and 12 days later having some sort of outbreak on my vagina. Can you believe it, 2 years later and i STILL don't have the answers I need. Basically this is where I am at:
- Unprotected sex and painful sores, blisters etc occur on vagina
- Go for a blood test (2 weeks after) results: HSV-1 + and HSV-2 -
- After speaking to you I realised that those results were invalid given the time period
- No apparent outbreaks afterwards but some 'tingles' here and there - I genuinely don't know if that's a normal thing in life, if those sensations were there before or if my mind is making them up due to this whole ordeal...
- Go for second test (PCR), wrong test and stupid doctor; go for 3rd test Igg and Igm (10months post first ob) and results read the same as above HSV-1 + and HSV-2 -
So this is my problem. I HAVE NO IDEA IF I'M INFECTED WITH SOMETHING! this is honestly driving me crazy. Clearly I had had HSV_1 exposure in my life as it was + in the first test. Convinced I had HSV-2 I then went for the second test which came back negative. SO happy but still had tingle sensations etc. I then had a 'sore' of some time on my vagina at the bottom, it was uncomfortable etc but again i didn't know what it was. I didn't see anyone when I had this sore. I went to my GYN and she said I must not worry if the test said - I'm in the clear.
But, could I have contracted HSV-1 genitally ? It's been too long for me to contact the guy, wwe are still in contact but I wouldn't know how to say 'hey, remember that time we hooked up 2 years ago? well..." Please help me Grace, I'm not too sure of what to do and tests are expensive! Plus all the doctors where I live are convinced that HSV is only transmissible when showing sores etc... I still have so much anxiety about this an it is stopping me from forming new relationships with guys.
Thanks so much Grace
