Shared Razor

I used a razor of a friends to shave my vaginal area about two weeks ago and about 8 days ago I found a sore on my vaginal area. This was 6 days after I used the razor. It didnt even come to mind until i remembered using the razor. I have gone to the gynecologist and gotten a culture and blood test but am very worried and wondering if it could be anything else !

The new partners in the past month may reflect a somewhat increased risk for acquiring herpes or any STD for that matter.  Condoms used, not?
Hope you get those tests back soon.  Remember that it can take up to 4 months for herpes blood tests to reflect new infection, so in your case, the blood tests may not be accurate quite yet due to the new partners recently.  Take care.

I have had three sexual partners, two of which have been in the last month. I last had sex on February 8th. Before these two I didnt have sex for nine months.

Well, I think the sore could be other things of course, and the testing will help you be clearer about what might be going on.  Let's see how the antibody test comes back and the swab test.  If the swab test is positive for herpes, lets say HSV 2, and the antibody test is negative for HSV 2, that tells you that you likely have new infection (virus is present on your skin but not enough time has gone by for you to have made antibody yet).  If the antibody test is positive also, then it suggests that you have an established infection, but one that you may not have known you had.

Frankly, I think the chances of you getting herpes through using a razor are very very small indeed.  If you do have herpes, I'm guessing you already had it.  What is your sexual history like?  By that, I mean about how many lifetime partners have you had and when did you last have sex?  Anyone new in the last couples of months?  These are all things to think about as you try to sort out what might be going on.  Please feel free to get back to me if the results are confusing for you.
