Hi,

Does herpes viral shedding occur before an outbreak? or it is never known when the virus sheds?

hsv2 sheds more than hsv1, hsv2 can shed before or after an outbreak even when no symptoms are present, condoms only protect about 30% and you can still pass hsv on the areas that are not covered by the condom, I was diagnosed with hsv2 4 months ago

HI, tests were perfomed as to the percentage of the time each type and place but it is not known when.
