So Confusing! IGM & IGG

I had an IGM test done 10 days after possible exposure which was negative, with tinglling and redness on my penis. 6 weeks out I had a positive IGM of 3.25 and a negative IGG. I had a negative IGG at 4 months, 5 months and 5 1/2 months with positive IGMs that have been dwindling down to a 1.29 at 5.5 months. I have plenty of symptoms that I believe point to herpes. Is this herpes? please help!

It means that its not likely or definatley isnt? I want to be able to go have sex with my girlfriend and know that I wont be giving her anything. Are those negative IGGs enough evidence for me to do that?

more than just herpes out there to cause symptoms. Negative igg results at this point means it's not likely to be herpes going on.

Is there any way that this could be herpes with my negative IGGs? Or am i just too worried?

no it doesn't have to be herpes because of the igm being +.  positive igm's are meaningless for the most part.

next time you have symptoms, be seen within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms and go from there. if they feel that they look like herpes, they can do a lesion culture.

Thanks for the response Grace!
Something must've happened for my IGM to elevate from a negative to as high as a 3.25 and it scares me. Something herpes related would've caused this. With that odd fluxuation and my constant irritation and symptoms it has to be! I had sex hundreds of times with my girlfriend. When we broke up I had sex with a promiscuous girl and quickly got symptoms a few days later, causing me to get tested. Is there any possible way that this is herpes with negatve IGGS after 5.5 months?

the herpes igm test is a very flawed test and current cdc recommendations are that it not be drawn on adults for the purpose of diagnosing herpes. you really can't assume anything from a + igm result.

your continued negative igg's show that you don't have herpes. no reason for any further testing for herpes.  whatever is going on, is not due to herpes.
