Unsure about HSV2 results. Sex while asymptomatic?
So I was just tested type specific for HSV, and my results came as follows:
HSV1: 1.88
HSV2: 1.41
Are these scores relatively low? I have had no symptomes either that are related to HSV2. Which test would be recommended to confirm these results?
Another question I have is, say that I am positive that would mean I am asymptomatic. How do I go about assuring my sexual partner is safe, if I am not aware that I am having an outbreak?
Any help/advice is appreciated.

Ok, so at this point I am going to take precaution as if I had HSV2, and I will retest later on. How long do you suggest me waiting to restest?
no reason to start valtrex at this point. as I said, odds are you are really negative. I'd just use condoms at this point to err on the side of caution.

As far as our previous sexual encounters mine was 4 1/2 months prior,and according to him, his was about 5 months.
At this point in our relationship it is assumed I am positive and he is not, yet I have had no symptoms, so I am also assuming I am asymptomatic. This situation has dampered our relationship a bit, and I am concerned with possibly infecting him, if I am indeed positive. So my question is, as a possible HSV2 positive asymptomatic person, how am I to know when I am having an outbreak or become predronal, if I am having no symptoms at all? Doesnt that make me more susceptible to pass it on if I am less aware that I am at a stage where I should not be having sex?
At this point we are using condoms, and I will soon be taking Valtrex. Is that the most I can do?

your hsv2 igg is indeed a low positive and odds are it's a false positive. you'll need to confirm your status to find out if it's accurate or not.
do you know how long prior to testing your partner had last had sex with someone else? how long was it for you?
I know these seem like tons of questions but it's the way I figure out when to tell you to confirm your status with more testing :)

Hi Grace, thanks for your response. No, there was no specific reason for testing other than a routine STD check. I have only been with this particular partner for a month when he was tested, and he came back negative, so I am thinking he may of tested too early.
was there a specific reason why you were tested or was this just a routine std check?
