TRANSMISSION OF HERPES

I recently had unprotected sex with this woman, I have known for about 4 years.  This encounter lasted for about 15 minutes.  A day later, I felt a tingling sensation inside of the head of my penis. The tingling sensation went away and I thought nothing of it. A week later, I went back over to the same woman's house and had protected (condom) sex with her. She fell asleep and I found a medicine bottle of Acyclovir on her sink counter when I went to use the bathroom.  I asked her about the medicine and she flipped out. She stated she only had one bump on her vagina and she thought it was an ingrown hair, that females can't transmit the virus to males, blah, blah, blah. I am worried sick, what is the likelihood of transmission from her?

Grace I went for testing. I have had a burning sensation that showed up in the tip of my penis a day after the first unprotected encounter. It is the same sensation, I had after an encounter in October. I went to the doctor and he stated it was due to prostatitis and gave me antibiotics. It clear the symptoms up.  My question is two-fold. What are the chances of transmission of herpes with this uneducated woman as she only took the Acyclovir for 7 days and quit? I did not/have not notice any sores, bumps or discharge. Is her taking the Acyclovir for only 7 days worthless (like taking nothing at all)?

Thanks Grace, she finally admitted that she did test positive for Herpes. She stated she has been taking her meds faithfully and has not had an outbreak since. I am going to go for testing ASAP.

well she very obviously is under educated about genital herpes :(     she needs to better follow up on her own status to know if she has herpes or not. she also needs to realize that indeed genital herpes is transmitted to males from females.

at this point, protect yourself and go for std testing. I'd get a baseline herpes igg blood test to know your status and then repeat it again in 3-4 months ( that will help you determine if you had herpes before this and never knew it and also if you test + later, let you know if it's a new infection or not ).  you can also get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia and ngu at this point. you have to wait at least 6 weeks after the 2nd time you had sex with her for syphilis testing. hiv testing can be done after 3 months after unprotected sex.
