Igg false positive for hsv 1?

Hello,

So, I'm freaking out, I haven't been in a relationship nor had sex for almost 2 years now. Now that I'm about to enter a serious relationship, I decided to get std tests just get a piece of mind. I got the results yesterday and says all negatives except for hsv 1 having an igg of 2.57. I know this is a bit high, but is there a possibility that this is a false positive, if so what's the probability? I've never had any outbreaks in my life and I haven't even kissed my new partner yet so I know that it's not coming from her.

As mentioned it falls into the false positive range and needs another test and having it now would be ok. Dont take any meds untill your confirmed positive and if you are and never have any outbreaks, you dont need to take meds anyway.

My last sexual encounter is about 2 years ago and that's whats throwing me off. Does that mean it is most likely true that the result is correct? Also, with hsv 1, should I buy medication even though I haven't had any outbreaks at all?

If your test was 3 months post exposure you can do it now

Hello, thank you for the fast reply,

Should I do the wb test asap or should I wait for a month or 2?

Hi, any number below 3.5 would fall into the false positive range in need of retesting. The Western Blot is a good test for this situation.
