It's possible that your hsv1 is a pre-existing oral infection, or it could be a false positive.

At 10 days, it's too early to be from this encounter.

You weren't at risk for hsv2 from the encounter, as your genitals didn't come into contact with your partner's genitals.

67% of people under 50 globally have hsv1. It's not a big deal. Have you ever had a cold sore? It's the virus that causes cold sores. You can have it without ever getting symptoms - 90% of those who have it never get symptoms.

If you want to do more testing, just do another hsv1 test. Don't do another hsv2 test. There are false positives for that, and you didn't have a risk for that.

Let's keep all your responses to one thread so everything is on one place. It's easier for us to keep up with that way.

Never had a cold sore on my lip before how long should I wait to retest
I mean, if you feel a big need to test again, test again no sooner than 6 weeks from the time of the encounter.

Keep in mind that anyone you've ever kissed could have this - your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. It's able to transmit with no symptoms, too, so any one of them or any person you've kissed could have transmitted it to you without symptoms.

Literally 3.7 billion people under 50 globally have it.  It's around 80+% over people over 50.

It's just not a big deal if you do have it.
How will I know if its preexisting or from having received oral and on my genitals since I do not have any symptoms of it on either my lips or genitals and have never had a cold sore is there a way to test for that or do I just have to wait for an eventual sore on lips or genitals
If this is your first time receiving oral, it's too soon to test positive for that.

That's the thing about blood tests - they can't tell you where you have it.

If your anxiety can't handle this, don't further this test. The chances that you have this genitally from a one-time blow job are really, really low.
Is there a certain time frame for me to get symptoms on my genitals if I did get it from receiving oral such as a time for the blisters to start forming or showing,if its pre existing I understand just worried may have caught it in my genitals after that one time mistake since it was from a person I dont know just worried they might have lied about being clean and gave me genital hsv1 since it was a sort of long one time encounter
How long was it?

Typically, symptoms will appear within 2-20 days, though some experts will say 2-12 days.

You didn't do anything wrong here. You had a sexual encounter. That's a normal thing people do. I know there can be a lot of anxiety around it, but a lot of times, anxiety comes from guilt. You have nothing to feel guilty about.
Its been 11 days if for 20 days I dont get any symptoms in my genitals is it safe to assume I dont have it on my genitals and its just a pre existing thing
Yes, I would assume that for sure since you tested at 10 days.
Okay thank you I tested for everything else I may have gotten and everything else came out negative was just worried I may have caught hsv1 on my genitals over a dumb one time mistake was planning on retesting again in 3 months to make sure everything else is still negative but was worried about having gotten hsv1 on my genitals since some say it takes months to get symptoms or never do until something triggers them
Listen, you can spend all this time freaking out about triggering something, but remember that you tested positive at 10 days. The minimum time for testing positive is 2 weeks. That means it's a pre-existing infection.

Also, people with herpes spend a lot of time worrying about triggers. Remember that 90% of people with oral herpes never get symptoms, so they have no tiggers.

The only thing you might need to test again for is syphilis, but if you're in a developed country, it's uncommon, and if you don't get any symptoms, there's no need to worry about that. You can test at 6 weeks.

At some point, you have to let this go. Your reaction to this is out of proportion to the risk.

If you can't let it go, I'd suggest counseling to deal with whatever underlying reasons you have for the anxiety.
Okay thank you I will
You're welcome. :)
