Thank you Grace, Terri & Dr. Hook

Well after being exposed through recieving oral sex, kissing and masturbating a partner  who later found out she was  HSV1 & HSV2 positive. I had a huge fear that I contracted HSV1 orally and genitally. I had symptoms that ranged from frequent urintaion, burning at the tip of my penis, tingling and burning in my thighs, buttocks, back and genital area even my face, lips, shoulders and arms.  I had some soreness around my meatus on two seperate occassions and both times I was self examining about 20X per day and self medicating with acetic acid on a bump I thought may have been a wart which it was later cultured and was not and then I thought it might have been a yeast infection so I tried some miconazole nitrate which did a number on my privates (not something I recomend). Over time it became difficult to figure what was normal and what was not. Even the slightest ache or pain made me think herpes.

I can not say I am not feeling any of hese pains anymore but I have to say unless I am one of th e15 % that does not produces detecctable antibodies I have to say I am free of HSV.

7 IgG type specific  (5test  post 12 weeks)
1 Immunoblot  15 weeks
2 WB (3 months and 10 months post exposure)

All test were negative for both HSV1 & HSV2. I am convinced I do not have HSV2 it has always been HSV1 I was concerned about. I really never had anything to swab except for a sore on my lip one time but it acted somewhat like a cold sore but it also acted like a pimple. So I have moved on to look for other reasons. But I will say this since my last test a WB it has helped with my symptoms.

So Grace, Dr. Hook and Terri were probably correct is saying my problems are not due to herpes. I have done everything possible from a testing standpoint except for a PCR swab and there has only been that one sore on my lip but really nothing else and I was not able to get in to be seen in a timely manner. I posted this just incase anyone else who has been reading for awhile. I am always poking back in because it is hard to accept. I wish medicine was an exact science but it is a practice and nothing is 0 and nothing is 100 % so there will always be a gray area but the probabilities are what you need to go by.

I hope this follow up helps someone else and for those who struggle getting a WB done I went through Terri's clinic and became a phone patient and that was much easier than my own doctor. I really hope this is my last post here on this topic.

Thank you Grace, Terri, and Dr. Hook for all the replys to all the threads for us to read and in helping us figure out what was happening with our bodies. I know at times I may have driven you guys crazy.

Do you think that all of the constant worrying, obsessing and money spent on testing is any better than having HSV in the first place ?
