Transmission Risk

I was recently diagnose with HSV1 and HSV2 - my IgG results were HSV1 - 2.48 and HSV2 - 9.48 (isnt that really hight?)

My question is this: I am female, Prior to being tested, I perfromed oral sex (unproteced) on a man 3 times, He briefly perfomed oral on me (less than 2 minutes).

What are the odds that I infected him with the HSV1 when I gave the oral? (No coldsores present - see below)
What are the odds that I infected him with the HSV2 when i received the oral? (No ob - see below)

Also, I have never had a coldsore, and no gential lesions/outbreaks that I can recall.  There were no lesions/obs when any of the oral situations happened.,

Thank you.  Yes, i have read the hanbook and i think i will go get the book.

I feel much better now and it will be easier to tell him since the risk was so low.

I appreciate your prompt response.

About the HSV 9.48 result, everything i read says that numbers are meaningless, but I was just wondering if it did in fact indicate that it I have had it a while and its not a recent aquire.

The herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a free resource that is terrific. I really recommend reading it when you get a chance. If you don't mind spending about $15, terri warren's book "the good news about the bad news" is even more comprehensive than her free handbook.

It's low risk in general of transmission. Oral sex is also low risk in general.  A one night encounter is always more likely not to result in transmission of herpes than it is to transmit the virus to someone.

Not a regular partner.  I didn't even know I had either, but went for a full panel and was shocked by the results.  I have never had any symptoms.

I will tell him, but do you believe the odds are very low since there were no lesions and I had no symptoms? or why do you say it is low risk?

I greatly appreciate your response!!

It's really low risk that you transmitted either hsv1 or hsv2 to the partner in question.  If he's a regulr partner, have you spoken to him about your recent herpes diagnosis?
