Hi Grace- or anyone who will answer:)
How possible is it that my boyfirend has herpes. I get colds sores two or three times a year since i was a kid. a  year ago I kissed him a few days before a cold sore showed up, how liekly is it that he know has the virus , if he has had no symptoms in over a year?

He'd need tested to know his status. If he's never been tested before this, no way to know if he tests + for hsv1 now whether it's from you or something he had before he met you.

Herpes testing usually is not included with routine std testing. Your bf would have to ask where he got tested at last if it was or not.

You can still transmit hsv1 even when you don't have an obvious cold sore.  He also could've had hsv1 since before he met you and never knew it if he's never been tested before. Hsv1 orally is incredibly common and most adults do have it whether they can recall obvious cold sores or not.
