a yearly pap is not testing for std's. you'd have to have an actual herpes lesion on your cervix at the time of your yearly exam for it to be seen at that time.
did you read the handbook yet?

So lesions don't have be external? I get my annual pap test every year...why havent the lesions been seen before? Do they come and go?
your provider cultured the lesion on your cervix. those are active symptoms.

Im confused as to what you mean by active symptoms? You mean the chlamydia systems are active symptoms for herpes as well??? My doc sd tht she saw something on my cervix but i've never seen any lesion on my genital area.
I went on Friday to get the blood test done for the herpes and i shld have the results back by Tuesday I think. The culture test for herpes did come back positive...
You had a lesion culture done of active symptoms so treating these symptoms with valtrex was the proper course of action to help them heal faster and help you feel better quicker.
did you also have a blood test done for herpes or just the lesion culture?
Both your partners would need to be tested to see what their status is to even begin to figure out where your chlamydia came from. Finding out who you got hsv2 from , could be trickier because even though this is evidently the first time you've ever had symptoms, doesn't necessarily mean that this is a newly acquired infection for you. Once you all have your blood test results back, you might be able to figure that part out .
the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a terrific and free resource to learn more about hsv2 at to better educate yourself on your infection.

Also what is the difference btwn active and dormaint?
Would my doctor have prescribed valtrex if the type 2 was dormaint?
If the culture test was postive and the blood work shows a low number what does that mean?
If the culture test was positive and teh blood work shows a high number what does that mean?
